Rumors Say Qi Qiaoqiao Has Been “Placed Under House Arrest”
[People News] Recently, the atmosphere in Zhongnanhai can only be described as “eerie.” A shocking piece of news has once again ignited overseas social media: Xi Jinping’s elder sister, Qi Qiaoqiao, is rumored to have been “confined.” Is this a secret order from Xi to protect his family, or have anti-Xi forces already reached his “doorstep”?
On February 18, independent political commentator Cai Shenkun revealed on X that he had received a letter from an enthusiastic viewer stating that since last November, Qi Qiaoqiao had moved from Beijing to the Shenzhen Guest House and had been explicitly ordered “not to leave.”
Even more intriguing is that her staff members, who were previously free to move about, are now also restricted to the guest house and have been unable to contact the outside world for several months. If this information is true, consider Qi Qiaoqiao’s highly sensitive status — unless something earth-shattering has occurred, why would she be placed under what amounts to house arrest?
This matter is not entirely groundless. The revelation also mentioned that businesspeople who know Qi Qiaoqiao were summoned for questioning by the disciplinary authorities, with the focus reportedly on investigating possible benefit transfers between the two families. Once the news broke, Shenzhen’s business community became extremely nervous. Some individuals who had been close to Qi Qiaoqiao reportedly hurried to delete her from WeChat, saying bluntly, “Something is going to happen to their family.” This method of tightening the net beginning from the surrounding business network closely resembles the prelude to past CCP crackdowns on senior officials.
So, who issued the order? At present, there are two completely different analyses. The first suggests that this is Xi Jinping’s “comprehensive protective confinement.” With recent turmoil among senior military figures such as Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli, and the political situation highly unstable, Xi may fear that his family could be targeted or harmed, and thus has placed Qi Qiaoqiao — and possibly even his younger brother Xi Yuanping and daughter Xi Mingze — under unified protection.
But the second explanation is even more unsettling: this could be an actual soft detention of Xi’s family members by anti-Xi forces. If the latter is true, it would mean that Xi’s grip on power has already developed serious cracks.
Cai Shenkun analyzed that the current situation is extremely tense and delicate. Even people around Qi Qiaoqiao reportedly do not know when this “confinement” might be lifted. If this internal struggle within Zhongnanhai ends in Xi’s defeat, his entire family could potentially be “taken down together.” After all, in the process of rising to power, they have offended too many people. The present situation evokes comparisons to the late Eastern Han dynasty, when regional warlords were restless and events could spiral out of control at any moment.
In addition, Cai Shenkun mentioned a prediction by Wang Enqing, a so-called extraordinary figure from Northeast China. According to Wang Enqing, the five stars on the PRC national flag represent the five generations of leaders — Mao, Deng, Jiang, Hu, and Xi — and the fifth would be the “gravedigger,” under whom the CCP would collapse.
Wang Enqing is from Wudalianchi in Northeast China. In 1988, he predicted that there would be a coup in the Soviet Union in 1989, followed by the fall of the Soviet Communist Party and then dramatic changes in Eastern Europe.
