[People News] The U.S. military's swift capture of Venezuelan President Maduro has sent shockwaves through the international community. Li Yi, a pro-CCP commentator known for his anti-American stance, expressed his outrage in a video, slapping himself and choking up as he condemned himself as 'not human,' asserting that this event has significant implications for the CCP. This has ignited widespread discussion.
In the early hours of the 3rd, U.S. military and law enforcement conducted a raid in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, successfully capturing Maduro and his wife.
Li Yi, a hawkish expert from the CCP who fervently advocates for military unification with Taiwan, addressed this incident on January 4 in a video on his YouTube channel 'Li Yi Looks at the World.' He expressed his anger, stating that the mainland is only 180 kilometres from Taiwan, yet some still believe that conducting operations across the ocean is too challenging, while Caracas is '3,300 kilometres from Washington, D.C., and they still managed to capture him alive!' He then slapped himself and exclaimed, 'I feel like I'm not even human anymore, damn it!' His voice began to crack as he sighed, 'Living in this world,' followed by another long sigh, 'Alas... damn it,' and then he choked out, 'Not human, right!' He sighed once more, 'Alas... I won't say anymore, I won't say anymore!'
This segment was shared on X, prompting netizens to comment, 'Having lived to such an old age and boasting about China for a lifetime, he finally has the chance to broaden his horizons, which is a good thing.' Another remarked, 'It's like mourning a parent; they started to cry. Don't worry, there will be more to cry about later.' One user added, 'The joke will continue for a while until the next punchline comes out, probably about Iran...'
Jin Canrong also mentioned that Maduro's arrest has a considerable impact on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
He explained that the United States controls the Western Hemisphere primarily for security reasons and does not allow external powers to engage in affairs there. The CCP has minimal military presence in the region, limiting its influence. However, if the U.S. effectively manages to control the area, it will likely extend into economic cooperation. This could affect the CCP, as its relationship with Latin America is largely based on economic ties. If the U.S. can fully dominate the Western Hemisphere, these countries will have to align their economic cooperation with the CCP according to U.S. interests, thereby constraining the CCP's future economic engagements in Latin America. Currently, this influence appears limited, but it could become more significant in the long run.
He believes that the CCP should be cautious with its investments in Latin America, as the political landscape there has been increasingly controlled by the U.S., raising the risks associated with such investments.
Some analysts suggest that the U.S. military's rapid capture of Maduro serves as a significant blow to global authoritarian regimes and undermines the CCP's persistent narrative that 'the U.S. does not dare.' Li Yi's public self-slap symbolises the complete collapse of ideology in the face of reality.
