A segment of footage that is rarely shown in its entirety in official mainland news—Xi Jinping walking down the plane's steps—was fully captured by American cameras. In those few seconds, it appears that the outside world caught sight of some details that are not often visible.

Let’s take a closer look at the footage, particularly focusing on Xi Jinping's hands.

Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan appeared at the cabin door, waving to those below, before they began to descend the steps. From the moment he started down the stairs, the hand of Xi Jinping that was near the handrail was continuously gripping it as he walked down. Meanwhile, his other hand was firmly holding onto Peng Liyuan's hand.

At first glance, this may seem like a typical scene of a couple holding hands. However, if you slow down the video and closely observe their body movements, you will notice some details that are quite significant.

First, let’s examine Peng Liyuan. As she descended the steps, her posture seemed quite natural, and her movements were relatively relaxed. In contrast, Xi Jinping displayed noticeably more caution in his actions. Observers particularly noted the hand he was using to grip the railing of the spiral staircase. He wasn’t just occasionally touching it; he maintained a firm hold all the way down. With each step, his hand moved down along the railing.

Now, looking at the other side, the hand he held with Peng Liyuan remained clasped throughout. Thus, in the overall scene, Xi Jinping was positioned in the center, gripping the spiral staircase railing on one side while holding Peng Liyuan’s hand on the other. This indicates that he had points of support on both sides to help him maintain balance.

Furthermore, upon closer inspection of Peng Liyuan, she appeared to navigate the steps effortlessly and did not seem to require Xi Jinping’s assistance. This raises the question: is their hand-holding simply a normal gesture between spouses, or is that hand also providing Xi Jinping with some support? It appears that Xi Jinping was leaning some of his body weight onto Peng Liyuan’s hand.

Once Xi Jinping reached the ground, his facial expression also attracted external attention.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, informed sources indicated that Xi Jinping had initially accepted an invitation to dinner from Modi but withdrew at the last minute due to health issues, with Wang Yi attending in his stead.

Current affairs commentator Hu Liren disclosed on September 23 during his self-media program that Xi Jinping may have experienced a mild stroke while in India.

Hu Liren further claimed that Xi Jinping traveled to the United States while unwell, necessitating a large medical support team to accompany him. At the protest site, large banners can be seen displaying messages such as "Stop persecuting Falun Gong," "Falun Dafa is good," "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is good," "Dismantle the CCP, stop the persecution," and "The CCP's transnational persecution of Falun Gong harms U.S. sovereignty." 

Reports indicate that hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners in the United States are expected to participate in a three-day protest coinciding with the Trump-Xi meeting. This is not the only protest taking place in Washington. 

In recent days, various groups advocating for religious freedom and human rights have also been holding events in Washington to protest the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) crackdown on religious freedom and basic human rights. They are urging Trump to directly address the release of imprisoned individuals of faith and political prisoners, as well as to halt the CCP's transnational repression during his meeting with Xi Jinping. 

And this is just the first day. 

In the next two days, Xi Jinping's schedule will be even busier. On the morning of September 24, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan will officially enter the White House. 

Trump and Melania will hold a welcoming ceremony for the state visit at the White House, and at the conclusion of the ceremony, a rather rare sight will appear in the sky: a B-2 "Stealth" strategic bomber accompanied by four F-22 "Raptor" fighter jets will fly directly over the White House.

On September 25, the final day of Xi Jinping's visit to the United States, Donald Trump and Melania Trump will once again welcome Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan at the White House. The four leaders will first gather for tea in the White House Red Room, after which they will head to the National Archives to view a collection of important documents related to the history of U.S.-China relations.
