Illustration of CCP Torture: Brutal Force-Feeding. (Minghui.org)
[People News] To force Falun Gong practitioners to "transform" (abandon their practice), the CCP has employed hundreds of torture methods, one of the most brutal being brutal force-feeding.
Imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners endure various forms of torture. To maintain their belief in "Truth, Compassion, Forbearance," they refuse to "transform" and resort to hunger strikes as a form of resistance against persecution, suffering immense physical and mental anguish in the process, with some even losing their lives.
Force-feeding is a method originally used in hospitals to provide nutrition to patients who cannot eat normally or have difficulty swallowing, where liquid food or nutritional supplements are delivered to the stomach through a tube. This process requires specialized knowledge and precautions to prevent danger.
However, the CCP has perverted this life-saving method, intended to assist patients with dietary issues, into a torture technique to torment Falun Gong practitioners, even considering it a "highly effective" method for widespread application.
The force-feeding process is brutal and horrifying: for instance, inserting a tube can rupture the esophagus or stomach, and it may be mistakenly or intentionally inserted into the trachea or lungs, causing the victim to struggle for breath and putting their life at risk; a tube may be inserted through the nose into the stomach and stirred repeatedly, remaining in place from morning until night, leading to difficulty breathing and unbearable pain for the victim; instead of nutritional liquids, what is injected includes concentrated salt water, chili water, and even poison, resulting in burning and cramping in the stomach, which can lead to ulcers and erosion…
Falun Gong practitioners endure horrific suffering when subjected to force-feeding. They are restrained, unable to move, or held down by multiple individuals; their mouths are pried open, causing tears and bleeding, or their noses are pinched to force their mouths open, or they are forcibly opened with a mouth gag, resulting in lost teeth. They experience nausea, vomiting, severe coughing, and indescribable pain, feeling worse than death, with some suffocating or dying from torture.
The following examples are merely the tip of the iceberg, illustrating the severity of the situation.
Teeth pried out, falling into the lungs during force-feeding, life in jeopardy.
Yang Shuzhen, a Falun Gong practitioner in her fifties from Jingyu County, Baishan City, Jilin Province, was kidnapped by the National Security Bureau in July 2024 and later illegally sentenced to four years. She endured various forms of torture in the "Assault Room" of the Eighth Ward of Jilin Women's Prison, one of which was brutal force-feeding.
In protest against the persecution, Yang Shuzhen went on a hunger strike, but the police subjected her to brutal force-feeding. On one occasion, during the process, one of her teeth was pried out, and subsequently, a tooth fell into her lung during the forced feeding, leading to difficulty breathing and putting her life in jeopardy. She was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, where doctors had to remove part of her lung to extract the tooth.
After losing her teeth, she was unable to eat normally. To enable her to eat, the police provided her with only one dental implant.
Deliberately inserting the tube into the trachea, food mixed with poison.
Gao Ke, a retired teacher and Falun Gong practitioner from Daowai District, Harbin City, was kidnapped in 2023 and illegally sentenced to four and a half years. He was tortured in Qiqihar Tailai Prison, which led to severe mental instability and rapid deterioration of his health. He was persecuted to death around April 20 of this year, at approximately 72 years old.
He had been illegally detained 16 times, subjected to illegal re-education 5 times, and illegally sentenced once.
In 2001, he was incarcerated in the Changlinzi Labor Education Center, where he undertook a hunger strike lasting 83 days. During this time, he was subjected to brutal force-feeding, primarily consisting of a mixture of concentrated salt water and a small amount of cornmeal. A doctor at the center repeatedly and deliberately inserted a tube into his trachea, putting him on the verge of death multiple times.
On the night of February 7, 2002, he was abducted from his home by police from the Harbin Public Security Bureau's first division and the internal security section of the Daowai branch, and taken to the Harbin Second Detention Center. He protested by going on a hunger strike, but was violently force-fed, which led to a perforated stomach and bleeding.
At the end of February 2006, Gao Ke was kidnapped while he was speaking about the truth of Falun Gong on the street and was taken to the Harbin First Detention Center.
After five days of hunger strike protest, he was restrained by inmates and handcuffed to an iron chair. A doctor named Wang intentionally inserted a thick tube into his trachea and left it there for an extended period, causing him excruciating pain. Later, Wang told him, 'I am a surgeon, I know how to force-feed, and I intentionally inserted it into your trachea.'
In 2009, he was once again imprisoned in the same labor education center, confined in a 'small cell,' and locked to a ground ring for 16 consecutive days and nights. He protested by going on a hunger strike and was subjected to brutal force-feeding, with his food laced with unknown drugs, which resulted in severe heart pain. He was taken to the hospital for examination and diagnosed with second-degree heart failure, with his blood pressure exceeding 200.
Doctors frequently insert tubes into the stomach and repeatedly stir them up and down.
Liu Ruping, a 65-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Changqing District in Jinan City, was kidnapped along with his wife on the morning of September 29, 2025, and was subsequently sentenced to three and a half years in prison in an illegal ruling. This marks the third time he has faced wrongful sentencing.
Liu Ruping graduated from the Agricultural Economics Management program at Shandong Agricultural University in July 1982. He took the national lawyer qualification examination in October 1993 and was awarded a lawyer's license. He later became the director of the legal research office at the Changqing District Party School in Jinan City, while also serving as a full-time lawyer at Shuntian Law Firm.
On January 22, 2010, the Changqing District Court handed down an illegal seven-year sentence, leading to his incarceration in Shandong Province Prison.
In May 2012, Liu Ruping initiated a hunger strike to protest the persecution, demanding access to Falun Gong literature and the opportunity to practice the exercises. However, he was subjected to brutal tube feeding for over twenty consecutive days. The head of the Eleventh Division, Li Wei, threatened him, saying, "Do you want to die or do you want to live?"
While in the Twentieth Group, he was assaulted by criminal inmate Zhao Yuekui, who punched and kicked him, causing immediate swelling in his ears and cheekbones, along with headaches and dizziness. For the following 21 days, he was forcibly tube-fed six times a day.
During each feeding session, police restrained his feet, legs, waist, chest, and arms to a wooden chair using binding straps. Doctors often inserted the tube deep into his stomach and stirred it up and down repeatedly, inflicting excruciating pain. The police discovered that this method of torture was "highly effective" and began to use it widely within the prison. At times, multiple Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to tube feeding in the corridors.
The tube was frequently misinserted into the trachea or lungs, resulting in lung infections.
Li Xianghong, a 63-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Urumqi City, has endured relentless persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for over twenty years. Her suffering includes being forcibly confined to a psychiatric hospital, receiving two illegal prison sentences totaling 14 years, being dismissed from her public job, and having her pension revoked.
In August 2000, Li was arrested for distributing materials that exposed the truth about Falun Gong and was detained at the Liudao Bay Detention Center in Xinjiang. In March 2001, in a bid to resist the persecution, she initiated a hunger and water strike. The prison guards responded with brutal force-feeding, using a thick tube inserted through her nostrils into her oesophagus, often mistakenly inserting it into her trachea or lungs, which resulted in lung infections, persistent high fever, and a life-threatening condition.
In 2001, she continued her hunger strike for over forty days. In April, a judge from an intermediate court visited her cell and announced, "Three years of execution outside of prison." The judge also inquired whether she could guarantee that she would "not practice, not promote, and not engage in any activities related to the Fa" after her release, to which she firmly replied, "I cannot."
With a tube inserted in her nose from 8 AM to 10 PM, her oesophagus was punctured.
Jiang Lanying, a Falun Gong practitioner from Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, tragically passed away around 8 AM on April 22, 2026, at the age of 60, after suffering over fifteen years of brutal persecution by the CCP.
She endured a total of 15 years and 2 months of illegal re-education through labor and wrongful imprisonment, during which she protested through hunger strikes for more than three years, steadfastly refusing to "transform."
In January 2000, Jiang Lanying was abducted to the Jiangxi Province Women's Labor Camp. Due to her refusal to "transform," she was not released after two years and was instead taken to a police brainwashing class for further persecution. She protested by going on a hunger strike and was subjected to brutal force-feeding, with a rubber tube inserted into her nose for feeding, which remained in place from 8 AM until 10 PM. She experienced severe difficulty breathing, and her esophagus was punctured and bled.
In the early hours of July 11, 2002, at 1 a.m., she was taken from her home by police and imprisoned in a detention center, where she was later sentenced to five years in prison without legal justification. She was held in a labor reform hospital in Jiangxi Province, where she endured severe torture and was subjected to brutal force-feeding for nearly three years, resulting in her weight plummeting from over 130 pounds to just over 30 pounds.
The prolonged and inhumane force-feeding led to severe gastrointestinal ulcers and necrosis, putting her life at serious risk. Despite numerous attempts to save her, she ultimately passed away, having suffered a grave injustice. (This case is reported by Minghui.org)
