[People News] Since running for president up to the present, U.S. President Donald Trump has faced five assassination attempts, yet each time he has managed to escape unharmed. And this is not simply because of exceptionally strong security measures—so what is the reason? Is the current U.S. president under some kind of curse or protected by divine forces?

The Hilton Incident

On April 25, at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner held at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., attended by Trump, his wife, and several senior cabinet officials, an assassination plot by a 31-year-old man from California, Cole Allen, drew global attention. Allen described himself as a “game developer, engineer, scientist, and teacher” from the Los Angeles area. Armed with multiple weapons—including a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives—he sprinted at full speed from nearly 50 meters away toward the security checkpoint outside the banquet hall. Before breaking through the security line, he was subdued by Secret Service personnel.

At the time, President Trump had been inside for about 30 minutes, and the dinner, attended by 2,500 people, had just begun the first course. Five loud gunshots were heard in the hall. Trump was speaking with well-known mentalist Oz Pearlman, who had just correctly guessed the name of a White House staff member’s baby, surprising the Trumps. Secret Service agents suddenly rushed onto the stage and escorted Trump and his wife to safety.

According to an email Allen wrote to his family, he claimed he could not tolerate people who mistreat children, and even mentioned “traitors.” He may have been heavily influenced by left-leaning media. Otherwise, people find it hard to understand such behaviour.

Trump has faced multiple threats to his life during both presidential campaigns and terms in office. From campaign events to public appearances, shocking security threats have occurred, yet he has always escaped danger—something that seems almost miraculous compared to other U.S. presidents who faced similar incidents.

The Previous Four Incidents

On June 18, 2016, at a Trump campaign rally in Paradise, Nevada, a 20-year-old British tourist, Michael Steven Sandford, attempted to seize a security officer’s firearm but failed. He was arrested and admitted he intended to assassinate Trump to prevent him from becoming president.

After Trump was elected, in the early morning of Sunday, February 22, 2025, a gunman broke into Mar-a-Lago but was discovered. He refused to surrender and was shot dead on the spot. Trump happened to be at the White House that day and thus avoided the danger.

The third incident occurred on July 13, 2024, at a Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where gunfire erupted. A bullet grazed the upper part of Trump’s right ear, causing bleeding. He still raised his fist and shouted “Fight” three times to the supporters. This display of resilience has become an iconic historical moment.

The suspect, 20-year-old American Thomas Matthew Crooks, used a semi-automatic AR-15 rifle to fire into the crowd and was killed on the spot by a Secret Service sniper.

Shortly after the incident, Trump attributed his survival to God’s grace. Although he had previously believed in God, his faith became even stronger afterwards.

Just two months later, another assassination attempt occurred.

The fourth incident took place on September 15, 2024, near Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Secret Service agents spotted an armed man hiding in the bushes. They opened fire, forcing him to drop his weapon and flee by car. Trump was on the golf course at the time but was unharmed. The 59-year-old suspect, Ryan Routh, was later charged with five criminal counts and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Why did these individuals attempt to assassinate Trump? Some online speculation suggested that certain attackers might have been influenced or even backed by foreign forces, such as Iran or the Chinese Communist Party. However, due to a lack of evidence, such speculation has not gained much traction. That said, there are indeed various groups within the United States that oppose Trump becoming president. Trump himself says his survival is due to God’s grace. Of course, this is a metaphysical explanation. So why would Trump be protected? Why would divine forces protect him?

Trump Attributes His Survival to God’s Grace

What kind of person is Trump? It is well known that he is a devout man with religious beliefs.

Recently, a story circulated on social media, reportedly told by a White House employee. One day, around 4 a.m., a White House security camera accidentally recorded a scene that has since been quietly shared among staff—one that reportedly moved even hardened Secret Service agents to tears.

The footage allegedly shows 79-year-old President Trump sitting alone in the Oval Office, with no staff, advisors, or known cameras present. Documents were piled across his desk, and the dark circles under his eyes showed his exhaustion.

Then came the part that deeply moved viewers: Trump was praying—praying aloud, alone. The audio reportedly captured him saying: “Jesus, give me the strength to bear this burden. Give me the wisdom to save America. Help me make decisions that protect every American family. I am so tired, Lord! But America needs me to stay alert! Help me keep going.” He then buried his head in his hands for several minutes, his shoulders trembling.

While countless Americans—including those who criticise, mock, or obstruct him—were asleep, Trump was praying for the country. This, to some, reveals his deep devotion to God.

Trump participated in religious activities from a young age. Born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York, he attended Sunday school at the First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, Queens, and was confirmed there in 1959. In the 1970s, his parents joined Marble Collegiate Church of the Reformed Church in America. In 2015, Trump said he was a Presbyterian affiliated with Marble Collegiate Church. In 2019, he appointed his personal pastor, televangelist Paula White, to the White House Office of Public Liaison. In 2020, he identified himself as a non-denominational Christian.

From the beginning of his first presidency, Trump repeatedly expressed his faith in God. On January 20, 2017, before his inauguration, he attended a church service. In his inaugural address, he repeatedly invoked “God bless America.”

On July 26, he wrote on Twitter: “In America, we don’t pray to government—we pray to God!” On October 13, at the Values Voter Summit, he said: “In America, we don’t worship government—we worship God.”

After Hurricane Harvey struck the U.S., Trump prayed with his cabinet and designated September 3 as a National Day of Prayer.

On February 8, 2018, at the National Prayer Breakfast, Trump said the United States is “a nation of believers,” and that “we praise God because He blesses the American people… As long as we open our eyes to see God’s grace and open our hearts to honour Him, America will forever be a land of the free, a home of the brave, and a nation of light.”

On July 4, 2019, Independence Day, Trump also said in a speech at the Lincoln Memorial: “We are all children of God… We are all created by God… God bless America, God bless the American people.”

Some netizens even remarked: Heaven blesses America, God helps Trump. Since he is so strong, God will surely grant him glory and let him remain steadfast to the end.

Trump has also turned the White House into a “prayer venue,” inviting many pastors to pray for him and for U.S. troops in conflicts with Iran.

On March 5, after the outbreak of the U.S.-Iran conflict, White House Assistant and Communications Advisor Margo Martin posted on X that President Trump prayed in the Oval Office with pastors from across the country. She also released a video showing Trump surrounded by people placing their hands on him while praying.

The prayer included: “We ask for Your grace and protection over our troops and all men and women serving in the armed forces… We ask that you continue to grant our president the strength needed to lead our nation.”

After returning to the presidency, Trump introduced several measures aimed at restoring religious faith among Americans—for example, executive orders protecting Christians from religious discrimination and continuing to promote “religious freedom” as a core element of foreign policy.

Vice President Vance also stated at the 2025 International Religious Freedom Summit in Washington, D.C., that the administration would safeguard religious freedom for all believers.

On February 7, 2025, Trump signed another executive order establishing a White House Faith Office to better align with American values.

Ronald Reagan, one of the greatest presidents in U.S. history, who led economic recovery in the last century, once said: “We must recognise that enduring faith in God is the bedrock upon which this great nation is built.” Clearly, Trump and his key cabinet members believe that only by having faith in God, like America’s forefathers, can the nation truly become great again—and that only God can grant Trump greater strength.
