[People News] When discussing Xi Jinping's nicknames, the most recognised ones are likely 'Baozi' (Steamed Bun) or 'Qingfeng Emperor', which originated from his early efforts to present a relatable image by showcasing his fondness for eating steamed buns. As he consolidated absolute power, the term 'One Respect' became associated with him. The public is also amused by his academic background and literary skills. He is mockingly referred to as 'Tsinghua Elementary Student' or 'Elementary Student Doctor', highlighting the irony that despite holding a PhD, he often misreads characters in public, such as pronouncing 'order' as 'rebuke order', and struggles to speak without a script.
The various policies enacted during Xi Jinping's administration have also led to him being assigned a series of titles featuring the character 'Emperor'. His stringent pandemic lockdown measures earned him the moniker 'Zero-COVID Emperor'; due to many significant projects he oversaw ending in failure, he has been labelled 'Failed Project Emperor'; and his push for hardline policies that plunged the Communist Party into crisis has further granted him the title 'Chief Accelerator'. Additionally, there are nicknames like 'Big Money Sprayer', 'Two Hundred Jin', and 'Wheat Carrier', which mock his lavish spending of public funds and his past boasts about physical prowess.
However, a more chilling new nickname has recently surfaced from Zhongnanhai. Following a significant purge within the military, which resulted in the downfall of several generals, including five senior generals, netizens have begun to derisively refer to him as the 'Great Decapitator'—this not only plays on the past glorification of Mao Zedong as the 'Great Helmsman', but also directly highlights his political tactics of specifically 'eliminating opponents'.
Yuan Hongbing, an Australian legal scholar, recently revealed that in the political landscape of the capital, a certain figure is even referred to as 'the General Slayer.' This is due to the fact that after he assumed office, he promoted 81 generals while purging 66, marking an unprecedented scale of internal rectification in the history of the Chinese Communist Party's military.
The shift from being labelled 'the clown who insists on being emperor even when stripped of his clothes' to now being called 'the Great Head Chopper' reflects the public's resistance to the arrogance of power, which embodies the people's voice. History will remember these names.
In reality, whether it is the unofficial nickname 'Great Hand Chopper' used in political circles or the term 'General Accelerator' used by the public, what this figure fears most is the word 'truth.' To suppress the truth, Zhongnanhai has invested astronomical amounts in firewalls and censorship mechanisms. Ironically, just in the past few days, even the 'domestic AI' that this figure personally guided and that Baidu's CEO Li Yanhong takes pride in has 'turned against' the very 'great helmsman' that this figure admires.
Did Baidu's AI make a mistake? Has Li Yanhong turned against?
Recently, a screenshot has gone viral on social media platforms like X and Facebook, causing a shock akin to a political earthquake. The content of this image is straightforward; it is Baidu AI's response to a historical question. However, due to this answer, some have exclaimed that Baidu's CEO, Li Yanhong, has turned against, while others have lamented that 'AI has finally revolted.'
A screenshot reveals that a user entered an extremely sensitive term into Baidu AI search: "The Three Great Demons of the 20th Century." Within the Chinese Communist Party's heavily funded and multilayered information firewall, we anticipated seeing a series of censored standard responses. To our surprise, Baidu's AI provided an "international standard": it listed Hitler, Stalin, and Mao Zedong, the figure revered by the CCP as the "Great Helmsman," side by side.
The accompanying text detailed the deaths, oppression, and turmoil caused during the reigns of these three leaders. This screenshot gained traction because it originated from Baidu, China's most prominent tech giant. In a mainland internet environment where even terms like "fried rice," "steamed buns," and "Winnie" can become forbidden, this statement feels like a deep-sea bomb detonating from a stack of code.
Why does the machine "speak the truth"?
Many have humorously remarked that Li Yanhong has a "rebellious spirit," but the underlying truth may be even more ironic. It is important to recognise that AI models are trained on vast amounts of data. Despite Baidu's implementation of the world's strictest keyword filtering system, the foundational logic of AI learning is rooted in global historical data and logical connections.
This highlights two key points: First, the logic of history is permeable. Even if you construct a higher wall, the mainstream assessments of 20th-century totalitarian politics in the international arena will still subtly infiltrate the model's neural network through residual academic materials and foreign media reports.
Secondly, the review mechanism is not a monolithic entity. When AI tries to grasp the connection between 'devil' and 'historical consequences', it adheres to the integrity of data rather than political correctness. In that instant, the algorithm inadvertently revealed the truth, directly breaking through the political taboos that exist within.
AI itself lacks emotions and positions; it merely serves as a conduit for data. Yet, when this mirror reflects reality, it appears remarkably subversive. Internet users humorously call this phenomenon 'Li Yanhong has also rebelled', and this jest actually reflects a collective backlash from the public after enduring prolonged information suppression. People do not truly believe that Baidu will challenge authority; instead, they are filled with a long-awaited excitement towards any truth that seems to defy boundaries.
Naturally, this screenshot may soon be removed, and this entry may quickly be revised. However, the truth of history cannot be erased by algorithms, and the public's memory cannot be obliterated by those in power. When the truth can only emerge through 'technical glitches', the absurdity of this society reaches its zenith.
