To Disrupt Shen Yun Performances, CCP Allegedly Threatens Leaders of Six Countries

At the start of the New Year, on January 4, 2026, Shen Yun's eight artistic troupes staged simultaneous performances across the United States, Europe, and Asia, captivating over ten thousand spectators. The cities included Austin, Texas';s capital, Dallas, San Francisco in California, Turin in Italy, Birmingham in the United Kingdom, Toulon in France, Riga, the capital of Latvia, and Taoyuan in Taiwan. [People News] Recently, the CCP’s transnational repression targeting the U.S.-based Shen Yun Performing Arts has drawn international attention. Earlier this week, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was reportedly forced to relocate from his official residence due to threats linked to the CCP. This was not an isolated case. Five other national leaders have allegedly faced intimidation and pressure connected to the CCP, aimed at disrupting Shen Yun performances in their respective countries. After The Dajiyuan revealed details of the incidents and their “links to the CCP,” the issue has continued to attract significant international scrutiny.

According to New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD), since January this year, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen have all received bomb threats and death threat emails.

Australian Prime Minister Albanese is the latest leader to have been targeted by similar threats.

The tone and content of these emails were reportedly strikingly similar. All were written in Chinese and contained nearly identical messages, stating: “Cancel Shen Yun Performing Arts’ performances, or face the consequences.”

For example, an email obtained by The Dajiyuan on February 10 reportedly stated: “If you insist on allowing Shen Yun to perform, something will happen to the Danish Prime Minister. If you do not care about the personal safety of Frederiksen and all senior Danish officials, then go ahead with the performance.”

Another email reportedly read: “The possibility of shooting Lai Ching-te cannot be ruled out! Or even driving an SUV loaded with explosives into the Presidential Office.”

Taiwanese authorities launched a cross-agency investigation and found that some of the email addresses could be traced to Xi’an, China. A Huawei research facility there was reportedly listed as a primary suspect.

Although none of the threats materialized, they suggest that the CCP’s decades-long campaign against Shen Yun is escalating.

Dr. Zhao, president of the Falun Dafa Association in Australia, stated: “The Chinese consulate is openly attacking Falun Gong and Shen Yun without restraint. This is effectively challenging the bottom line of the Australian government, as well as Australia’s rule of law, freedom, and human rights. All Australians have a responsibility to speak out, to stop hate propaganda, and to stop such terrorist threats.”

After The Dajiyuan disclosed the alleged “connections to the CCP” behind the incidents, the story drew widespread coverage from international media.

At a press conference in Beijing, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed to be “unaware of the situation,” but then proceeded to use disparaging language to attack Shen Yun and Falun Gong.

Chen Ying, conductor and vice president of Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra, told The Dajiyuan: “This clearly shows how afraid Beijing is of our exposing the CCP’s tyranny on the global stage.”

In Denmark, the Chinese embassy recently issued a statement urging the public not to attend Shen Yun performances.

Mikkel Bjørn, a member of the Danish People’s Party, said bluntly: “If I had to take orders from a CCP dictator or be influenced by its ideology when participating in various activities, I would feel ashamed.”

Karl Andersen of the Danish Liberal Alliance condemned the Chinese embassy’s actions as “foreign interference.” He said he had urged intelligence agencies and the police to investigate the threats against Danish leaders, emphasizing that Danes must “stand up against authoritarian regimes.”

Kim Valentin, a member of Denmark’s Liberal Party, stated: “In Denmark, the state does not interfere with what you should or should not participate in,” adding, “I sincerely hope this will instead attract more people to attend Shen Yun performances.”
