[People News] He Jing has resurfaced in the news for sharing a contentious article written by Singapore think tank scholar Michael Petraeus. The article, published on April 10 on the 'Critical Spectator' website, analyses the Trump administration's latest strategies to exert pressure on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The article highlights that while Trump has imposed a 125% tariff on Chinese goods, he has also postponed tax increases for 75 countries willing to negotiate for 90 days. This strategy aims to isolate the CCP and compel Beijing to make concessions during multilateral negotiations.
Additionally, the article notes that Beijing is currently facing various pressures, including obstacles to exports and shifts in supply chains.
One notable image included in the article depicts Xi Jinping sitting alone on an outdoor chair while wearing a mask.
This is not the first time He Jing has sparked controversy; she previously shared another article that likened Xi Jinping to a 'gang boss,' which also ignited significant public debate. (See previous report: He Jing shares article: Xi's 12-year rule resembles that of a gang boss.)
Commentator Tang Jingyuan remarked in a social media program that He Jing's status is quite remarkable. She is not only the wife of Lee Hsien Loong but also the former president of Temasek and currently serves as an advisory committee member at Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management. He Jing has a strong relationship with former Vice Chairman of the Communist Party Wang Qishan, having hosted her during a visit when Wang was the Mayor of Beijing in 2007.
Tang Jingyuan analysed that He Jing's recent actions may reflect the internal power struggles within the upper echelons of the Communist Party. He noted that Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management has traditionally been viewed as closely aligned with the 'Zhu-Wang faction,' and as one of the committee members, He Jing may have access to high-level information.
What is particularly intriguing is that despite calls from netizens to delete her posts, He Jing neither responded nor removed her writings. Tang Jingyuan speculated that this could suggest she has received tacit approval or support from high-ranking party officials and is not concerned about potential retaliation.
Public data indicates that Temasek's total investment in China exceeds 2 trillion yuan. Tang Jingyuan pointed out that He Jing is fully aware that if Xi Jinping were to retaliate, Temasek could face severe repercussions, yet she still chose to speak out publicly, suggesting that there may already be forces behind her capable of restraining Xi's faction.
At present, there has been no official clarification on whether the upper echelons of the Communist Party have indeed begun to show signs of loosening, as speculated by external observers. However, He Jing's series of actions has already created a significant stir in political circles.
We will continue to keep an eye on the developments of this situation.
