[People News] October 31 marks the annual celebration of Halloween, a festival associated with ghosts, death, demons, and monsters. Legend has it that on this day, various evil spirits are allowed to roam the earth. However, in the realm of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), aside from Liu Yandong's departure to the underworld on the eve of this ghostly festival, the CCP has chosen this moment to imprison a significant number of ministerial-level officials and political law "insiders." Netizens have remarked, "The cages of the CCP are as brutal as those of the underworld or hell; these party officials enter during the time of emptiness in hell, which is truly tragic."
Following the conclusion of the 20th Central Committee's Fifth Plenary Session on the 29th, the CCP announced that 34 party officials at the ministerial level and above have been dealt with. This includes local officials such as Ma Xingrui, Lan Tianli, Liu Jianchao, Wang Lixia, and Jin Zhuanglong, as well as military figures like Zhang Youxia, Liu Zhenli, and Wang Renhua. They have all been charged with "serious violations of discipline and law" and are currently under review by the CCP, with 33 of them expelled from the party.
In addition to the ministerial-level officials, there are also corrupt officials from the oil sector and former political law insiders who have been imprisoned by the Communist Party during the time when Halloween's evil spirits are said to roam, experiencing the suffering they once inflicted on others.
Today (31st), the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission of the CCP reported that Fu Chengyu, the former Secretary of the Party Group and Chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, is "suspected of serious violations of discipline and law" and is currently under investigation. He is the first high-profile official to be targeted following the Fifth Plenary Session.
Public records indicate that Fu Chengyu, born in 1951 in Heilongjiang, graduated from Northeast Petroleum Institute. He has served as the chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation since April 8, 2011, and is a member of the 17th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China. He retired on May 4, 2015.
Initially holding a deputy ministerial position, Fu Chengyu's downfall spanned both the oil faction and the discipline inspection system, linking him to two critical networks of the Jiang faction at that time, which has drawn significant attention.
China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and Sinopec were historically dominated by the Jiang faction's former Standing Committee members Zeng Qinghong and Zhou Yongkang. Fu Chengyu was regarded as one of Zeng Qinghong's close associates. Following the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Zhou Yongkang's fall from power turned the 'oil faction' into a major corruption hotspot, leading to the downfall of many Jiang faction oil aides and proxies, including Wang Yongchun. On November 24, 2014, officials from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection entered Sinopec. That day, state media CCTV aired footage of a conversation between a CCDI official and Fu Chengyu, which The Wall Street Journal described as quite 'unusual'.
Fu Chengyu once remarked to the media that the monthly salary of ordinary employees at Sinopec, set at 1,300 yuan, was too low, stating, 'It's hard to even find a nanny.' At the time, some analysts suggested that Fu Chengyu's comments were an attempt to shift public focus away from previously exposed corruption scandals involving senior officials at Sinopec.
Analysts suggest that ahead of the 21st National Congress, a significant number of former or current high-ranking officials may still face downfall. These individuals could be implicated in collusion and cover-ups. Sources have disclosed that Huang Qifan, the former mayor of Chongqing, who had previously been investigated, succumbed to the pressure of severe penalties and disclosed information about numerous high-ranking officials.
Individuals like Fu Chengyu, who have previously worked within the Discipline Inspection Commission, can be considered insiders of the Commission, adept at the tactics of coercive interrogation: electric batons, confinement in dark rooms, small jails, and sleep-depriving, wheel-style questioning. They are painfully aware that the tortures they once inflicted on others could be turned against them by the corrupt police of the Communist Party. It seems impossible to avoid providing the confessions that the authorities demand regarding their accomplices in the cases they are involved in. In reality, these fallen tigers and insiders are also victims of the Communist Party. It is the Communist Party that has corrupted them, making them greedy, violent, evil, wicked, and immoral, only to later turn against them. The torturing police are merely the minor devils; the true demon king is the Communist Party.
On Halloween, the minor devils emerge, while the major devils descend. With Liu Yandong, who has ties to the Jiang Zemin family, heading to the underworld, and numerous ministerial-level tigers and insiders of the Discipline Inspection Commission being taken down, it can be said that hell is not empty; more ghosts of the Communist Party are gradually opening the gates of hell to welcome the ghost king of the Communist Party.
