[People News] This year’s Beijing “Two Sessions” have truly been full of strange incidents. Xi Jinping warned against “people of divided loyalty,” and delegates from all sides each used every possible trick to “show loyalty,” even to a level that leaves people dumbfounded. Let us look at the two most representative “political performances.”
First is this CPPCC member from Jiangxi, Wu Daishe. He is not only vice chair of the Jiangxi Jiusan Society, but also a vice dean at a university. On March 6, when Xi Jinping attended the joint group meeting, he discovered that he was seated in the front row directly facing Xi, and because of this he said excitedly: “A dizzy feeling of happiness surged into my heart.”
These remarks immediately triggered intense mockery online. Netizens bluntly said this showed the “true nature of a servant,” and some even described this obsession with power as being like a “drug addiction.” Some analysts pointed out that this “dizzy feeling,” rather than being happiness, was more like fear. Under Xi Jinping’s continued large-scale purges within the Party in recent years, officials all feel endangered, and this kind of nauseating flattery is in fact a political performance aimed at survival in the midst of fear.
At the same time, the Xinjiang delegation was unwilling to be outdone and presented a “Stone of Loyalty.” According to a Xinjiang delegate, this stone was picked up at the border by a border guard. On the stone there is a white line symbolizing the border, and at the bottom there is also a shape resembling the map of China, with even Taiwan included on it.
On the stone were engraved the words “China” and “Loyalty,” and it was declared that they would “forever follow the Party.”
However, this kind of talking in front of cameras about loving the Party and loving the country ignores the cruel treatment suffered by fellow people in Xinjiang, and is using the blood of Uyghurs in exchange for one’s own political status.
From Jiangxi’s “dizzy happiness” to Xinjiang’s “loyalty stone,” what these farces reflect behind the scenes is the transformation of Chinese Communist Party officialdom into a world of sycophants. When no truth can be heard in the meeting hall, and all that remains is a sea of nauseating praise, this “Two Sessions” has long since become a giant show of loyalty testing.
