[People News] As the world-renowned U.S. Shen Yun Performing Arts marks its 20th anniversary, on December 16 the Shen Yun International Performing Arts arrived at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, signaling the official opening of Shen Yun’s 2026 global touring season.

That afternoon, Shen Yun artists emerged from the arrival gate full of vitality, greeted by enthusiastic French fans offering flowers and warm applause.

This tour will span 15 cities across France, with nearly 100 performances in total. Ticket sales in various cities have been extremely strong. As of December 15, box offices in 10 cities had already announced complete sellouts.

On December 18, Shen Yun will launch its first performance in the Greater Eastern region in the city of Amnéville. Tickets there have long been sold out, and audiences are eagerly anticipating the show.

Shen Yun artists said they felt excited upon arriving in France. They are full of anticipation for the 2026 performance season and praised the enthusiasm and discernment of French audiences.

Shen Yun trombonist Alistair Crawford said he is fully prepared and ready to “take the stage at any moment.” As a member of the first company to perform in the 2026 season, he feels it is “a very rare opportunity” to take part in the world premiere performance in Amnéville, France.

“I very much look forward to bringing wonderful performances to audiences during this tour.”

Shen Yun audiences often say that after watching the performance, they feel greatly uplifted and filled with “hope.” Crawford strongly agrees: “Today’s society is full of chaos and turbulence, and sometimes it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. When you watch Shen Yun, you can truly feel hope.”

“The performance is very inspiring. It not only revives traditional culture, but also conveys a universal value—that when people do good and walk a righteous path, they will ultimately usher in a beautiful future. Therefore, the performance is deeply encouraging,” he said.

French audiences regard Shen Yun as a top-tier brand, and performances are often sold out. Crawford believes that “France has a profound cultural foundation and artistic heritage,” allowing audiences to resonate strongly with Shen Yun. At the same time, Shen Yun’s popularity continues to grow year after year.

He said he hopes French audiences will “experience the performance with their hearts” and gain “spiritual elevation” from it.

Like Crawford, Shen Yun principal lead dancer Ren Ganyong (Jared Ren) also said he feels extremely “honored” and “excited” to take part in the opening performance of Shen Yun’s 20th anniversary. “I sincerely look forward to presenting all of our efforts from this year to the audience and showing everyone our brand-new content.”

He believes the message Shen Yun conveys to audiences is “hope and compassion.” “The world today is in a dark period, with a situation that is severe and heavy. We want to show people that hope still exists, and that hope may lie in sharing.”

“What we present is a performance of superb artistic standard and profound cultural depth. Every story, every dance, every gesture and facial expression of the performers contains deep meaning.”

He believes that for this reason, Shen Yun resonates strongly with French culture. “The French people have a long historical heritage, just as Chinese civilization is ancient and far-reaching.”

Shen Yun showcases ancient traditions from before communism. Ren Ganyong said, “This is exactly what the CCP fears the world seeing—the Chinese nation before being oppressed by a totalitarian government, a nation filled with wisdom, kindness, and greatness.”

“While we present traditional Chinese culture, we also reveal the human rights persecution taking place in China today. (Our) exposing of these truths is what they fear the most.”

For a long time, the CCP has attempted through various means to smear, interfere with, and obstruct Shen Yun performances, and has spread lies about Shen Yun. Ren Ganyong believes these actions are “counterproductive.” “For us, this instead becomes a kind of ‘free publicity,’ allowing more people to learn about Shen Yun and understand Shen Yun,” he said.

Principal lead dancer Pan Chengxue (Jacky Pun) said excitedly, “I feel extremely excited to launch the 2026 tour in Paris.”

He said that after half a year of rigorous training, closely collaborating with choreographers, technical teams, and production staff, now that it is truly time to take the stage, he suddenly feels it is a bit unbelievable. “Wow, all of this is real!”

As a dancer, Pan Chengxue believes that “maintaining a very balanced lifestyle” is extremely important. In addition to paying attention to diet and physical condition, “we also place equal importance on psychological adjustment. This is why we meditate and practice sitting meditation, to calm ourselves, clear distracting thoughts, and maintain inner peace.”

“What I most hope (Shen Yun) brings to audiences is light and hope, allowing people to feel sincerity, compassion, tolerance, courage, and dignity—these traditional values. These values still exist in today’s world and still carry great significance.”

“French people are very sensitive to aesthetics,” he said. “The reason French audiences can resonate deeply with Shen Yun is because they appreciate subtle beauty, elegance, and sincerity. The storytelling, live symphony orchestra accompaniment, and the exquisitely handcrafted costumes, props, and headpieces integrate everything on a technical level in a very refined way.”

“From a technical perspective, the Chinese classical dance presented by Shen Yun is itself a very rigorous and complete dance system.”

“The beauty of Shen Yun goes far beyond technique alone; it also contains deeper truths and sincerity. This authenticity, I deeply feel, is something French audiences can truly understand and cherish,” he said.

Shen Yun erhu soloist Wang Zhen (Linda Wang) also expressed her excitement: “I feel very honored and very excited.”

“During more than half a year of rehearsals, all of Shen Yun’s performers, musicians, choreographers, and staff have devoted themselves fully to preparing new programs,” she said. Now that these new programs are about to be unveiled, “I’m very excited. I believe audiences will definitely love them.”

“What I most hope to convey to audiences is the beauty of traditional values, to inspire the kindness in people’s hearts and their reverence for the divine,” she said.

Highly accomplished in erhu performance, Wang Zhen also spoke very highly of French audiences: “France has a deep historical and artistic culture. Most people have a very high level of artistic cultivation, making them better able to appreciate and understand the messages Shen Yun expresses, as well as Shen Yun’s top-tier quality.”

In the 17th century, France began trade and cultural exchanges with China. King Louis XIV was extremely fascinated by Chinese craftsmanship, which spurred a “China craze” in France. “So I think France and China have a strong connection. This may also explain why French audiences especially love Shen Yun performances,” she said.

As a Shen Yun musician, Wang Zhen firmly believes that “faith” is the most important thing. She said, “Members of Shen Yun Performing Arts all practice Falun Dafa and conduct themselves according to the principles of ‘Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.’ When encountering difficulties or setbacks, we are able to persevere.”

She concluded by saying that Shen Yun artists are all “very excited” to meet French audiences.

Group Ticket Purchases Become a Trend — Shen Yun Craze Is Unstoppable

Ms. Rosa, coordinator of the Shen Yun France ticket hotline, introduced that organizations from all sectors are enthusiastically purchasing tickets. During the 2025 season, according to incomplete statistics, more than 120 groups—including banks, municipal governments, and associations—contacted the organizers to purchase tickets as groups. As Shen Yun’s reputation spreads by word of mouth among audiences, its good name has rapidly spread across various sectors in France.

Ticket sales for 2026 are even more encouraging, with the number of group ticket purchases reaching as high as 500.

In addition, many groups have already pre-booked tickets for Shen Yun’s 2027 performances. Patrick, who is responsible for group ticketing, said, “As soon as ticket sales for 2027 opened, we had already received reservations from 32 groups.”

Patrick explained that loyal fan groups not only attend Shen Yun year after year, but also actively promote Shen Yun performances. “One group, after watching the performance in 2025, immediately purchased the Shen Yun Works annual pass (which allows online viewing of Shen Yun’s classic programs from previous years). They truly love the performances.”

“As early as February and March this year, they had already booked tickets for 2026. When the Nantes performances opened, they immediately asked about the dates for 2027. They are truly die-hard Shen Yun fans.”

“Most group tickets come from bus tour companies. For example, in 2025, a company in Montpellier purchased 700 tickets in one go, and similar scenes have appeared again in 2026,” he said.

In France, Shen Yun has become deeply rooted in people’s hearts. In many cities, as soon as ticket sales open, audiences rush to purchase. Some audience members report that they have waited for two years and still have not been able to secure ideal seats.
