[People News] On December 1, the official Weibo account of the Beijing Zoo announced that the Crested Ibis "Pingping," which achieved a remarkable longevity of nearly 40 years, has passed away, concluding its legendary life. Several media outlets in mainland China have shared this news along with accompanying images. The report and images have prompted many to draw parallels with the stroke news concerning Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping that emerged last July, leading to speculation about whether "Pingping"'s death signifies some kind of omen.
Interestingly, "Pingping" not only shares the character "Ping" with Xi Jinping's name but also has other connections:
1. Shared Ancestral Roots.
In 1986, "Pingping" was born in Yang County, Shaanxi Province. Although Xi Jinping was born in Beijing in 1953, his father, Xi Zhongxun, hails from Fuping County in Shaanxi, which is over 200 kilometres away from Yang County.
2. "Pingping" Died at an Advanced Age, While Xi Also Aspires for Longevity.
Reports indicate that "Pingping" passed away at the age of 39, whereas previously, only one Japanese Crested Ibis had lived to be 36 years old. The age of 39 for birds is roughly equivalent to 150 to 160 years for humans.
The report suggests that "Pingping" achieved this remarkable longevity due to a specialized retirement plan: a perch that was lowered from 50 centimeters to just 5 centimeters to protect its aging joints; soft mats on the ground, and the perch was halved to minimize foot wear; ventilation was carefully controlled to avoid direct drafts, and the indoor temperature was consistently maintained at 18-20°C during winter. Regarding its diet, caretakers cut beef into small pieces of about 5 centimetres to make it easier for the elderly "Pingping" to swallow, thus preventing eating difficulties caused by overly long food, among other considerations.
Throughout history, the quest for longevity has been prevalent among the elite, and high-ranking officials of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are no exception. This brings to mind the CCP's 'Project 981', which is aimed at ensuring the health and longevity of its officials. In a one-minute promotional video released in 2019 by the 'Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital' (301 Hospital) in Beijing, 'Project 981' was described as the '150-Year Longevity Project Against Death'.
The advertisement explained that after more than sixty years, the hospital has developed a healthcare system that 'deeply integrates the essence of traditional Chinese health culture with advanced Western medical technology'. The narration claimed that this medical system, specifically designed for the CCP's elite, has been 'validated through practice' and is 'effective', supported by a data chart indicating that the average lifespan of CCP leaders is 'significantly higher than that of their counterparts in developed Western countries during the same period', by at least ten years. This project includes blood transfusions and organ transplants for high-ranking officials.
During this year's September 3rd military parade, Xi Jinping, while conversing with Russian President Vladimir Putin, remarked that human lifespan might surpass 150 years. Putin, through a translator, responded that organ transplants could enable humanity to achieve 'immortality'.
The accidental leak of this statement caused a public uproar, as the CCP's illegal organ harvesting has persisted for decades. Xi's comments further confirmed this atrocity, leading many skeptics to finally recognise the true nature of the CCP as a malevolent force.
However, does the death of 'Pingping' suggest to CCP officials that even with exclusive longevity plans, one ultimately cannot escape death?
3. 'Pingping's' white feathers evoke thoughts about prophecies related to Xi.
Data indicate that the adult Chinese crested ibis features predominantly white plumage, with the shafts of its upper and lower body feathers, as well as its flight feathers, having a slight pinkish tint.
Several years ago, the Chinese folk prophecy book "Tieban Tu" referred to the "white-feathered bird" as the "king of a fallen party," noting that its fate was tragic, having died in office. Additionally, the character for "Xi" (習) can be interpreted as "white feathers."
4. A birthday photo at 37 years old raises intriguing associations.
In a report by mainland media regarding "Pingping," a photo taken on her 37th birthday on April 9, 2023, was included. The wall behind her reads, "Happy 37th Birthday." Reports indicate that on that day, several beautifully colored red fish were presented on "Pingping"'s plate, carefully selected by her caretakers as birthday gifts, symbolising their hopes and wishes for her safety and health.
Why such a grand celebration? Because on this day, "Pingping" surpassed the previous record holder for the longest-lived captive ibis, a 36-year-old Japanese crested ibis named "Jin," thus becoming the longest-lived ibis.
However, the numbers "37" and "red fish" inevitably bring to mind the mainland actor Yu Menglong, who was murdered in September. His surname "Yu" sounds like the word for "fish," and he was also 37 years old at the time of his death. There is a belief circulating that he was sacrificed to extend Xi's life.
Perhaps the passing of the white-feathered "Pingping" at this moment is a sign of fate. Previously, various strange phenomena were reported in places like Beijing, including blood-red skies, a white rainbow spanning the sun, two suns, white feathers falling from the sky, and fire meteors, all suggesting an ominous fate for the party leader.
Some private experts have suggested that the rise and fall of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is predestined. This implies that the CCP was founded by Mao Zedong, who was born in the Year of the Snake, and will ultimately end with Xi Jinping, who was also born in the Year of the Snake. Xi's decline is seen as a harbinger of the CCP's demise.
