[People News] Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister claimed yesterday that President Lukashenko held a "family dinner" with Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Xi Jinping in Beijing, and stated that Xi Jinping's daughter, Xi Mingze, made a rare appearance at the event. This statement immediately sparked public attention, with the outside world questioning the veracity of the claim. Some commentators see it as a "political trial balloon," hinting that Xi Jinping may have lost his freedom.

According to a June 8 report by the Belarusian News Agency, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov revealed in an interview with state-run media that Xi Jinping, after meeting with Lukashenko, said, "My friend, you and I have a special relationship, so today we will hold a family dinner. And, for the first time in history, my daughter will dine with a foreign leader."

However, multiple sources indicate that the official itinerary between Lukashenko and Chinese leaders concluded by noon, with both sides taking a brief walk in the Zhongnanhai garden after lunch before the visit ended. That afternoon, the Belarusian delegation departed for home, accompanied by China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. Video footage of the send-off shows it took place during the daytime, with no signs of a dinner being held.

This has led many observers to question the validity of the so-called "family dinner." Overseas commentary had previously noted regarding the Xi-Lukashenko lunch being called a "family banquet": "Without the presence of the First Lady and children, how can it be called a 'family banquet'?" Now, days later, Belarusian officials have suddenly escalated the narrative from a "family banquet" to a "family dinner," claiming Xi Mingze was present. This has led some to wonder if external skepticism prompted Zhongnanhai to adjust its story.

Even more intriguing is the Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister’s follow-up. After mentioning Xi Jinping’s invitation to Lukashenko for the dinner, he posed rhetorical questions about the event: "What kind of relationship do you think this visit, meeting, and dinner should establish? In what kind of atmosphere did it take place? Xi Jinping’s daughter was there, Madame Peng Liyuan was there, and Comrade Xi Jinping himself was there, right?" It’s as if he’s saying to everyone: "Believe it or not, you figure it out!"

Analysts believe this Belarusian narrative attempts to project an image of Xi Jinping still being in control, but the over-embellishment only highlights abnormalities in Xi’s actual situation.

Some commentators suggest that the Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister’s statement may be a deliberate signal from China, relayed through a foreign official channel. The unusually detailed depiction of a "family atmosphere," unverified by China, raises suspicions of an attempt to conceal Xi Jinping’s true circumstances. Some analyses point out that such arrangements might be part of an internal power struggle, intended to signal a "power transition" to the international community, particularly the U.S.

With the possible convening of the CCP’s Fourth Plenary Session, high-level changes within the party have become a focal point. The outside world is watching whether Xi Jinping has substantively lost power and what the future direction of CCP politics might be. Some observers bluntly state, "This is not just a case of 'protesting too much,' but a deliberate trial balloon to pave the way for the next step."

Beijing has not officially responded to the "family dinner" claim. The truth of the matter remains to be seen, but speculation about the political situation at China’s highest levels is already fermenting internationally. △
