Recently, the parents of Luo Shuaiyu, an intern at the Second Xiangya Hospital in Changsha, Hunan, released a video revealing their son fell to his death after reporting the hospital's president and others for involvement in organ harvesting and trafficking (video screenshot).
October 22, 2024 - On October 19, Luo Shuaiyu's parents publicly identified themselves and reported that their son, a graduate student in the kidney transplant department at the Second Xiangya Hospital, suddenly fell to his death from the hospital dormitory on May 8 this year. They suspect that their son was persecuted for reporting illegal organ harvesting and trafficking at the hospital.
The parents stated that after reviewing their son's computer, they discovered a large amount of material exposing illegal organ harvesting and trafficking by Liu Xiangfeng, the deputy director of the Trauma and Emergency Medicine Center, along with others. This material included a series of recorded phone conversations and a large number of written documents.
Among the evidence were WeChat records showing that during Luo Shuaiyu’s two years at the hospital, nearly 100 students, including Luo, transferred funds via WeChat to Fang Chunhua, the head nurse of the kidney transplant department. The total amount reached 40 million yuan (approximately USD 5.5 million), all of which were illicit profits from illegal organ transplants. In the video, Luo's mother displayed a thick stack of written evidence.
Audio recordings also revealed that several doctors at the hospital colluded with "downstream personnel" to illegally obtain and sell human organs using unlicensed graduate students. One recording from a surgical room captured Liu Xiangfeng removing a patient’s small intestine without their knowledge for use in a "small intestine transplant" surgery.
Additionally, recordings from Luo Shuaiyu’s phone indicate that at times, the hospital's emergency department had more than a dozen patients waiting for treatment, yet only one doctor on duty. The fate of these patients depended on the conscience of the doctor. The hospital's doctors, in collaboration with "downstream personnel," arranged to monitor when a potential organ donor might die and then directed "potential donor bodies" to designated locations for organ harvesting. Luo suspected that some of these patients, who had no family members with them, were brought into the hospital by the "related collaborators" as "potential organ donors." The transplant department even referred to the emergency room as the "mortuary."
A chat record also showed that someone suspected to be an internal source said, "Our hospital has reported this many times internally, and this time, it’s actually an internal collective report." However, while Liu Xiangfeng was not sentenced, Luo Shuaiyu, who participated in the report, was pushed off a building. Moreover, in February this year, another graduate student, Cao Liping, also died by "suicide" in the same jurisdiction. After her death, a series of materials related to whistleblowing were recovered from her phone and computer. To this day, both deaths remain uninvestigated.
Liu Xiangfeng had already been placed under investigation in August 2022. Netizens believe that the mysterious deaths of Luo Shuaiyu and Cao Liping this year indicate that Liu’s protectors are still in place.
Many netizens commented: "The organ transplant departments of large hospitals are all part of the profit chain. If a patient is matched, they could be killed by the hospital." "This is blatant profiteering and murder; this country is beyond saving."
Others criticized: "The Chinese Communist Party (CCP), after a century of existence, has developed into the largest corruption group in the world, with the most corrupt officials and the largest amounts of embezzled funds, holding absolute power in the country! They engage in organ harvesting, brutally suppress pro-democracy activists, and plunder the wealth of the people! It’s the largest terrorist organization in the world!" "In China, ordinary people are just lambs to be slaughtered." "Those involved in the CCP’s organ trafficking black market will eventually face severe punishment."
Some netizens also called for the handling of the "demonic hospital" and the "profit chain" behind it.
