On July 23, 2026, a group of Falun Gong practitioners and supporters from the eastern United States held a large parade in Washington, D.C., protesting the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) brutal persecution of the Falun Gong community, which has persisted for 27 years. They called for the "dissolution of the CCP and an end to the persecution of Falun Gong." (Zhang Jingyi / The Dajiyuan)
[People News] Minghui.org has recently highlighted several cases of elderly Falun Gong practitioners being forcibly "detained." This includes individuals who refused to write "confession letters" and those who are seriously ill and unable to care for themselves. Tragically, some have died in prison under unjust circumstances. Australian legal scholar Yuan Hongbing remarked to The Dajiyuan that this situation reflects Xi Jinping's tyrannical "doomsday madness" and reveals the despotism and brutality inherent in the CCP's totalitarian regime.
Dajiyuan reporters Li Jiesi and Luo Ya reported that, according to Minghui.org, 79-year-old Falun Gong practitioner He Zeying from Qilin District, Qujing City, Yunnan Province, was kidnapped in July 2023 while using her mobile phone to share the truth about Falun Gong. In July 2024, she was illegally sentenced to three years in prison but was allowed to return home due to health issues. Following this, the police made multiple attempts to "detain" her and force her to write a "confession letter," but she consistently refused. On May 5, 2025, she was forcibly incarcerated in the Second Women's Prison of Yunnan Province.
In another case, 77-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Wang Hongfen from Baiyun District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, was kidnapped in 2022 for sharing the truth about Falun Gong and was later released on "bail pending trial." In September 2025, Wang Hongfen was illegally sentenced to three years in prison for refusing to sign a "guarantee letter" to abandon her practice of Falun Gong, but she was released back home under "outside execution."
In mid-May 2026, Wang Hongfen mysteriously disappeared. By June, police insiders disclosed that she had been detained in prison for over a month due to her refusal to sign documents.
Xu Shujun, a Falun Gong practitioner from Jixi City in Heilongjiang Province, and his wife were kidnapped in 2017 for displaying banners that revealed the truth about Falun Gong, and both were subsequently sentenced to three years in prison. Since then, the couple has been displaced. In 2025, his wife tragically passed away under unjust circumstances, and Xu Shujun's health began to decline.
On April 23 at 9 a.m., 94-year-old Xu Shujun was forcibly taken by the Public Security Bureau using an ambulance to Jixi Prison.
Liu Huiju, another Falun Gong practitioner from Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was illegally sentenced to one and a half years in 2021 but was not imprisoned due to health issues. In early July 2025, police detained her in a detention center; by the end of July, she was moved to the newly constructed Heilongjiang Women's Prison.
During her nine months of incarceration, she was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment four times. On May 7, 2026, 84-year-old Liu Huiju passed away in prison.
In recent years, there have been countless similar cases.
The CCP's 'Apocalyptic Madness'
In light of the Chinese Communist Party's escalating repression of elderly Falun Gong practitioners, Yuan Hongbing remarked that this exemplifies Xi Jinping's tyrannical 'apocalyptic madness.'
Yuan Hongbing noted that back in the day, CCP leader Jiang Zemin claimed he would 'eliminate Falun Gong in three months,' yet 27 years later, Falun Gong has not vanished; rather, it has 'grown increasingly powerful.' The media established by Falun Gong has evolved into 'the largest Chinese media outlet overseas,' and cultural organizations representing Falun Gong, such as Shen Yun, are garnering more attention and support from overseas Chinese communities and people from various nations.
Yuan Hongbing stated that within China, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has escalated its suppression of Falun Gong using state violence, which he characterized as "more brutal state terrorism."
He believes that the CCP's intensified crackdown on Falun Gong reflects, from another angle, the "extreme fear" that the Xi Jinping administration harbors towards Falun Gong practitioners.
Falun Gong practitioners remain steadfast in their beliefs despite facing oppression. Yuan Hongbing: A sentiment that resonates deeply.
Falun Gong practitioners remain steadfast in their beliefs despite facing tyranny. Yuan Hongbing remarked that their resilience in the face of the CCP's repression, torture, imprisonment, and the threat of organ harvesting is truly "moving and inspiring."
Yuan Hongbing asserts that Falun Gong practitioners have proven through their actions that as long as there is a pursuit of and commitment to the freedom of belief in people's hearts, they will not yield to the tyranny of the CCP.
He emphasized that this spirit can inspire all Chinese citizens: in confronting CCP tyranny, the struggle for the right to be free individuals requires fighting for and upholding the principles of faith and freedom.
Yuan Hongbing noted that when the "curtain of freedom and democratization" is finally drawn back in China, people will undoubtedly reassess this chapter of history, and those who "sacrificed their lives and freedom for this cause" will be "eternally remembered" by history.
The CCP's suppression of Falun Gong has enabled the Chinese public to see through the true nature of the CCP.
Despite 27 years of persecution by the CCP, Falun Gong has not been eradicated; rather, it has become "increasingly strong." Yuan Hongbing believes that the CCP's crackdown on Falun Gong has also helped the general populace in China to "see through the CCP."
The brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), who adhere to the principles of faith and freedom, has 'also awakened the entire Chinese society.' This has led people to gain a clearer understanding of the 'despotism and brutality' that characterize the CCP's totalitarian regime, as well as the erosion of conscience and humanity.
The atrocities perpetrated by the CCP authorities will only serve to further 'awaken the will to resist within the hearts of the Chinese people.' △
