KABUL, March 24 (Reuters) - The Afghan Taliban government said on Tuesday it has decided to release U.S. detainee Dennis Coyl in response to a request from his mother.

"The foreign minister said that after a letter from the detainee's family ... the Supreme Court ... deemed the period of his detention sufficient and decided to release him," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
