[People News] Recently, Li Li, a well-known mainland CCP military expert, military commentator, and professor of military strategy at the National Defense University, suddenly cleared all content from her social media accounts. Screenshots show that her account had more than ten million followers. Her clearing of content occurred after Venezuelan President Maduro was captured alive by U.S. special forces and escorted to the United States for trial.
One month before the U.S. military operation, Li Li said the following on a CCTV military commentary program: “The United States will not easily move against Venezuela. Venezuela is not Iraq, nor is it Libya. Why is Maduro not panicking at all even with troops at the gates? What the United States truly fears is that behind Maduro there is a powerful, invisible backer. Maduro is not panicking, and Venezuela’s military strength is not weak!”
Li Li’s implicit meaning was that behind Maduro stood the CCP as the “big brother,” providing backing and a powerful air defense system; because of fear of the CCP, the United States would not dare to do anything to Venezuela or to Maduro. At the same time, another CCTV military commentator and researcher, Du Wenlong, also claimed that “the United States will not deploy ground forces to advance, for fear of getting trapped in the vast ocean of Venezuela’s people’s war and being unable to extricate itself.” Shen Yi, a professor in the Department of International Politics at the School of International Relations and Public Affairs at Fudan University, also repeatedly said that “the United States does not dare to use force against Venezuela,” and that Trump’s “closure of Venezuelan airspace” was mere bluffing, and so on.
This was most likely also the judgment of the CCP military and the CCP top leadership, merely voiced through the mouths of so-called experts such as Li Li. However, the lightning-fast action by the U.S. military, and the strength it displayed, not only shocked the CCP top leadership and the military, but also狠狠ly slapped the CCP in the face—slapped the face of the CCP military, which claimed its radar could provide early warning, and naturally also slapped the faces of experts such as Li Li. Li Li’s clearing of her social media accounts may well have come from an order from the top levels of the military.
In fact, very few experts within the CCP system say anything reliable. Take the Russia–Ukraine war as an example. When it broke out in 2022, many experts, including Li Li, confidently asserted that it would be “over in a few hours” and that there would be a “blitzkrieg crush.” But four years later, the Russia–Ukraine war is still ongoing, with huge casualties on both sides. Experts like Li Li have turned themselves into laughingstocks.
The author once heard an interesting story from a friend in China: when the Russia–Ukraine war had been going on for nearly a year, he happened to run into “expert” Du Wenlong in a shopping mall. The mall’s security guard recognized him as the CCTV military expert and greeted him, wanting to ask him about the Russia–Ukraine war. Du Wenlong said nothing and hurried away. Perhaps in his heart he also understood that what he said on television was nothing but nonsense, merely arguing according to the thinking of the CCP top leadership.
There is also another widely circulated joke. During the 2016 U.S. presidential election, a Sina live-stream invited two professors of international relations from Peking University to analyze the election. Both professors unanimously believed that Hillary would win and listed a great deal of information released by U.S. left-wing media. However, as the votes from various states were counted and Trump’s vote total kept rising, the two professors’ voices grew lower and lower. In the end, they simply stopped speaking.
Why do the vast majority of experts under the CCP system make misjudgments? One reason is that for many experts, their very role is to serve the CCP. The analyses of this type of expert are not based on objective intelligence, solid data, and rigorous reasoning, but on “stance”—and that stance is the stance of the CCP top leadership. If the top leadership wants to win, they must rack their brains to prove that this stance is correct; as for the facts, they are no longer important. This is also why they are so harshly slapped in the face.
There is another category of experts who are well aware of the problems of the CCP system and who want to conduct research as objectively as possible. However, because they have long been subjected to CCP indoctrination and brainwashing, their thinking naturally carries biases against the West and against certain Western figures. They also tend to view the world and current affairs more from the CCP’s grand, overarching perspective, which leads to errors in their analysis. Moreover, for the sake of professional titles and livelihood, they sometimes have no choice but to write articles they do not want to write and say things they do not want to say. Compared with the first category of experts who actively side with the CCP, they are more about protecting themselves, but the research they do is also destined to be eliminated in the long river of history.
It can be said that without an environment free from control, where people can think freely and express their views freely, all experts under CCP rule face great limitations in their predictions and analyses of current affairs, because they simply do not dare to touch upon the problems of the CCP system. What use can such experts’ analyses have, other than deceiving the “little pinks”?
