Wang Jiaer’s Exit Performance: A Sudden Plunge and a Murky Metaphor

[People News] Hong Kong singer Wang Jiaer made a dramatic exit during his concert in Bangkok, Thailand, in October, by suddenly plunging into a water tank. At the time, his unusual performance was speculated to symbolise a murky event. Now, as netizens revisit the performance, one wonders if Wang Jiaer truly had some insight into this.

Bangkok, Thailand, marked the first stop of Wang Jiaer’s 2025-2026 World Tour, which took place from October 3 to 4.

The most striking aspect of Wang Jiaer’s concert in Bangkok was his exit. Without any warning, he fell from the stage, and the large screen transformed into a massive water tank, seamlessly connecting with his descent, as if he had dropped directly into the tank. Inside, Wang Jiaer struggled to find a way out, desperately punching the tank. Although cracks began to form, he continued until his fists bled, staining the water with blood. Ultimately, he slowly collapsed and vanished.

The audience, unprepared for this shocking scene, was left in awe. Many fans praised it as a 'divine-level' exit.

However, some netizens questioned whether this performance was a metaphor for something murky. 'Is this a hint?' 'The image is of a fish!'

A netizen who was present at the concert remarked, "I was there, and when I saw it, my heart skipped a beat. I don't know if he was trying to convey something to us or if he was recreating the scene of the fish's suffering to reveal the truth."

Another netizen expressed concern, saying, "The situation with Yu is worrisome. Seeing Wang Jiaer getting thinner and his exit performance being so realistic and painful raises questions. What does he know? Is he trying to express it through his performance (because) he can't speak out? The implications are too frightening."

Some netizens refuted this perspective, noting that Wang Jiaer had another exit performance two years ago that was also quite strange.

During the Coachella Music Festival held in Indio, California, in May 2023, Wang Jiaer incorporated magic into his exit performance, featuring a sword-through-the-heart act that sparked considerable discussion at the time. Following the ambiguous situation with Yu, netizens revisited this performance and felt it was "very strange, almost like a sacrifice."

Wang Jiaer, born in 1994 in Hong Kong, is a former fencer who represented Hong Kong. After winning the championship at the Asian Youth Fencing Championships at the age of 17, he moved to South Korea to train as a trainee. He debuted in January 2014 as a member of the South Korean boy group GOT7. In 2020 and 2021, he ranked 41st and 10th, respectively, on the Forbes China Celebrity List, and he currently has the highest number of Instagram followers among Chinese celebrities worldwide, exceeding 100 million.

Since 2023, Wang Jiaer has seemingly put his career on hold, making few public appearances. In a 2024 interview, he disclosed a personal secret. During the program, he openly admitted to struggling with depression, and the reason behind it is truly heartbreaking: he was deceived by a trusted friend who took nearly half of his fortune.

In 2022, a friend whom Wang Jiaer deeply trusted borrowed money from him, claiming it was for a 'family crisis.' Trusting this friend, Wang Jiaer lent out 40% of his savings. However, after receiving the money, this friend disappeared without a trace, and the so-called crisis turned out to be a complete fabrication, which hit Wang Jiaer hard. The year 2023 marked the darkest turning point in his life, as he completely broke down upon realising he had been scammed. Fans later estimated that the amount he lost could be as high as 30 million RMB, and the person behind the deception was likely his former close manager, Wang Kaiyu. When Wang Kaiyu vanished, even the list of shareholders in the studio was thoroughly cleaned out.

Coincidentally, a source close to the production team recently revealed that Yu Menglong had lent 2 million yuan to his friend Gao Taiyu based on trust, who claimed it was for 'investment purposes.' Gao Taiyu had approached Yu Menglong with an investment plan, assuring him of low risks and high returns, even promising that 'the principal and interest would be returned soon.' Trusting their friendship and Gao Taiyu's connections with 'high-ranking relatives at Douyin,' Yu Menglong did not have any doubts and quickly lent out the substantial amount. However, the informant noted that after receiving the money, Gao Taiyu's lifestyle dramatically improved; he purchased a luxury car and moved into a new mansion, yet there was no progress on the investment project. Ultimately, when pressed for repayment, he 'turned hostile and denied the debt,' resulting in a court case. Both Yu Menglong and Wang Jiaer have faced betrayal from friends in this situation, and Gao Taiyu has become one of the artists heavily boycotted by netizens.

Recently, rumours have surfaced that Yu Menglong is owed 180 million yuan in unpaid wages by Tianyu Company. Du Qiang and He Xiaoqing are both Yu Menglong's agents. He Xiaoqing, a manager at Tianyu, is primarily responsible for coordinating Yu Menglong's daily work arrangements, making her a crucial figure in his inability to receive his wages. Netizens have disclosed that 90% of Yu Menglong's income has been withheld by Tianyu, leaving him with only 10% for living expenses. However, advertising fees, promotional costs, and other expenses are deducted from that 10%.

I recall that during his participation in the show 'Chasing the Light, Brother,' Yu Menglong expressed a desire to treat his friends to a meal, but mentioned he had no money, and his demeanour was truly heart-wrenching.

The drowning scene during Wang Jia'er’s tour in Thailand, regardless of whether it serves as a metaphor for Yu Menglong (Yu Meng Long), truly reflects the experience that Yu Menglong faced at that time. The domestic entertainment industry resembles this pool of water, appearing gentle on the surface but ultimately lethal.
