[People News] As the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) faces mounting crises, there is an increasing anxiety that even minor disturbances could spark a widespread uprising against its rule. As a result, information regarding even a routine traffic accident is subject to strict control. On December 17, a traffic accident took place inside the Duyatunnel near Yesanpo in Laishui County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, and the CCP has yet to comment on the incident. A netizen from Hebei who shared a video of the 'Yesanpo Highway Tunnel Accident' received a call from someone claiming to be a highway traffic police officer, who requested the video be deleted.

According to reports from Dajiyuan, netizens in mainland China recently posted videos indicating that on December 17, a traffic accident occurred inside the Duyatunnel near Yesanpo in Laishui County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, resulting in multiple vehicles being damaged and possible injuries. The videos shared by netizens show that there was a traffic jam near the Duyatunnel, with many vehicles stuck on the highway.

According to a report from "Hongxing News", a citizen who was passing through the Duya Tunnel reported that on December 17, she had planned to drive from Baoding Laishui to Zhangjiakou Xuanhua. Around 7:30 PM that day, as she approached the Duya Tunnel, traffic had already become congested, preventing vehicles from moving forward. She recounted, "I heard a sound like an explosion and saw smoke and dust at the scene. While we were stuck in traffic, someone went to check ahead and returned with the same information." Additionally, she observed police cars, ambulances, and tow trucks arriving at the accident site to manage the situation. After being stuck for nearly an hour, she finally entered the service area to wait around 8:30 PM that evening.

In response to online rumours about injuries from this traffic accident, the report noted that the receptionist at Laishui County Hospital did not provide a response. When a resident inquired at the hospital's outpatient department, a staff member confirmed, "We are indeed treating patients from the Duya Tunnel accident."

Regarding the cause of the accident, a receptionist from the Laishui County government stated on the morning of the 19th, "We have a general understanding of the situation; the video from the scene shows that a truck's tyre was on fire." However, they were not informed about the specific cause of the accident or the resulting casualties.

As of December 23, there has been no official announcement regarding the cause of the accident, the specific circumstances, or the number of casualties.

Hebei netizens face scrutiny after posting videos

Some netizens have encountered trouble for sharing related posts online.

According to a report from "Jiu Pai News," on December 18, a netizen from Hebei shared a video of the "Yesaipo Highway Tunnel Accident," after which a person claiming to be a highway traffic police officer called him to discuss the deletion of the video. The netizen questioned how the caller obtained his information; initially, the caller stated, "It's on Weibo," but then changed to "not sure," and after muttering a curse, hung up the phone.

The report indicates that the recording reveals the individual claiming to be a highway traffic police officer suggested the netizen call "114" to verify the phone number he was using. The netizen refused and insisted that the caller identify themselves. The caller then claimed to be a staff member of the "Hebei Highway Traffic Police Baoding Brigade Yesaipo Team," but when the netizen requested their badge number and name, the request was denied.

The netizen responded, "Then you should quickly issue an official report." He then pressed the caller again on how they obtained his personal information. The staff member quietly muttered, "Silly X," before hanging up the phone.

A mainland Douyin (TikTok) blogger named "Xingzhe You Zhongguo" posted a video on December 18 stating, "The Duyatunnel on the G95 Capital Ring Road is still smoking." The blogger also commented in the comment section, "They asked me to delete the video, but I refused."

Online reports suggest that the accident was severe, yet the authorities have not issued an official statement.

On social media, some netizens disclosed that the accident occurred in the Duyatunnel on the G95 Capital Ring Highway towards Zhuozhou, Baoding City, Hebei Province, where a natural gas tanker collided and exploded, leading to part of the tunnel collapsing and involving dozens of vehicles. "Many cars exploded," with reports indicating 10 fatalities and 29 injuries, and videos showing the scene to be extremely tragic following the explosion. However, the authorities have currently blocked any information regarding casualties.

As of now, the claims mentioned above have neither been confirmed nor denied. The authorities have consistently concealed the details regarding the casualties from this traffic accident. △
