[People News] On the vast lands of northern China, there is a beautiful village. Before July 1999, when Falun Gong was being widely spread, in just a little over one year, dozens of villagers there began practicing Falun Gong, and two study groups for learning the teachings were established.
They conducted themselves according to the standards of “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance” taught by Mr. Li Hongzhi, striving to be good people wherever they were. As a result, the entire atmosphere of the village changed. There was less quarrelling between people, and fights and violent incidents became rare. People were bathed in what they felt to be the Buddha’s universal light, and both body and mind underwent tremendous transformation. The village Party secretary sighed with emotion: “If everyone practiced Falun Gong, my job as secretary would be easy!”
Who could have known that just as people were immersed in the happiness and joy of obtaining the Fa and cultivating themselves, the CCP’s great demon Jiang Zemin would launch a large-scale persecution of Falun Gong. The local police station coerced village committee members into illegally ransacking Falun Gong practitioners’ homes and confiscating books, throwing everyone into panic.
The village Party secretary at the time knew that Falun Gong was good, because his wife had originally been plagued with illnesses, all of which were cured through practicing Falun Gong. Faced with this persecution, he chose to wisely protect the Dafa disciples in the village. Whenever higher authorities came to harass and persecute them, he would first deal with them superficially, taking them out to a restaurant for a meal. At the same time, he would have people around him quickly pass on the message, telling Falun Gong practitioners to disperse or quickly close their doors. He would then use the excuse that they were not at home to brush the matter aside.
Once, this village Party secretary was eating together with township officials. Among them was a township cadre who himself was a Falun Gong practitioner from the village. During the meal, someone urged him to drink alcohol, but he insisted on not drinking. Suddenly, a person beside him asked, “Are you practicing Falun Gong?” The atmosphere immediately became tense, and the Falun Gong practitioner did not answer. The village Party secretary suddenly spoke up and said, “So what if he practices Falun Gong? My wife practices Falun Gong, and all her illnesses were cured through it.” The room instantly fell silent, and no one dared to make things difficult for that Falun Gong practitioner anymore.
With the righteous support of this village Party secretary, the village’s practice site persevered steadily through the bloody and stormy persecution and has continued to this day. This secretary also received blessings for protecting Falun Gong. A few years ago, he suddenly suffered a cerebral thrombosis and was unable to move. For someone in his condition, others might take years without recovery, yet he was able to gradually walk again in a very short time. Now he can once again drive, taking his wife to markets to clarify the truth. Isn’t this a miracle?!
In contrast, the current village Party secretary blindly followed the evil Party in persecuting Falun Gong, bringing retribution upon himself and his family.
Before becoming village Party secretary, he was refined in manner and kind-hearted, with a very good reputation in the village. He also held righteous thoughts toward Falun Gong, and his business was thriving. However, after becoming village Party secretary, he was poisoned by the CCP’s evil Party and began following its commands.
In order to create a so-called “civilized village,” he rode his bicycle everywhere searching for and tearing down truth-clarifying banners posted by Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong practitioners repeatedly explained the truth to him, telling him not to do these bad deeds, warning that he would suffer retribution. He did not heed their kind advice, but continued to follow the CCP’s orders and participate in sabotaging Falun Gong practitioners’ truth-clarification efforts.
One day, when he personally went to tear down a truth-clarifying “Fu” (Blessing) character posted on a utility pole in front of a practitioner’s home, he was resisted by the male head of that household. This man himself did not practice Falun Gong. Unable to stop the secretary from tearing down the truth-clarifying “Fu” character, he took off his shoe and struck the secretary on the back, which finally made him stop. At that moment, onlookers pulled the two apart, and the current secretary’s face flushed deep red.
The wife of that household head was a Falun Gong practitioner and belonged to the same extended clan as the current secretary. After hearing about the incident, she hurried to the secretary’s home that evening to apologize on behalf of her husband for hitting him. She repeatedly told him not to tear down Falun Gong truth-clarification materials anymore, saying that it truly was not good for him, and also pointed out that the former secretary never did such things. At the time, the current secretary outwardly agreed and expressed forgiveness for being struck.
But a few days later, the current secretary’s wife went to a home near the incident site that had surveillance cameras to retrieve footage. Under the instigation of her family members, she reported the Falun Gong practitioner’s husband to the police station. The police summoned him under the charge of “protecting Falun Gong” and asked, “We heard that you protected Falun Gong and even hit your village secretary?” The man responded wisely: “There was a ‘Fu’ character posted outside my door. Every day I sit outside drinking tea, and looking at that ‘Fu’ character makes me feel comfortable. He insisted on tearing it down, and when I talked to him he wouldn’t listen. I got angry and hit him.”
The police asked him, “Didn’t you know that the ‘Fu’ character on your home has the words ‘Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are good’ written on it?” The man asked in return, “‘Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are good’—what’s wrong with that? What is incorrect about it? May I ask, among those of you present, who can actually live up to ‘Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance’?” The police were left speechless. Suddenly, one police officer roared angrily, “Don’t you know that ‘Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance’ belongs to Falun Gong?” The man shook his head and said, “I only know that these three words—‘Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance’—are good.” In the end, the police station made its decision: a fine of 500 yuan, and three generations of the man’s family were barred from joining the military.
Not long after this incident, calamities began to strike the current secretary’s family one after another. First, his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Then, his brother-in-law, at the height of a flourishing career, suddenly suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, became bedridden and unable to care for himself. His family could not manage, so he had to remain in the hospital. His elderly mother was also diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer and underwent a total gastrectomy.
During his wife’s illness, the current secretary often wept alone in secret at home. Despite doing everything possible to treat and save her, exhausting all of the family’s savings, they were still unable to keep her alive. This September, the current secretary’s wife, only fifty-four years old, left this world with regret and reluctance. People were unwilling to witness the tragic scene of a white-haired person sending off a black-haired one occurring in the current secretary’s family.
In fact, they were originally all kind people. It was the CCP’s evil Party that harmed their entire family. Villagers all discussed that it was the current secretary’s actions that brought this calamity upon his own household.
The stories of the two village Party secretaries and Falun Gong are truly worth deep reflection. The former village Party secretary treated Falun Gong practitioners kindly and received blessings in return; the current village Party secretary followed the evil Party in persecuting Falun Gong and brought retribution upon himself and his family. The two village Party secretaries held different attitudes toward Falun Gong, and the results they obtained were completely opposite.
In fact, since the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, many, many similar stories have occurred—almost every day they are being played out. Through vivid facts, they repeatedly warn people: choosing to treat Falun Gong kindly is choosing good retribution; choosing to persecute Falun Gong is choosing evil retribution.
Today, the CCP’s evil Party’s persecution of Falun Gong continues. In such an environment, how people choose to treat Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners—whether to choose good retribution or evil retribution—is a question many people frequently face. The story of the two village Party secretaries provides an excellent answer.
Kind-hearted people, please do not follow the CCP in aiding evil and persecuting Falun Gong, so as not to leave regret for yourselves and your families. Please remember what Falun Gong practitioners say: “With one thought of kindness toward Dafa, Heaven bestows happiness and peace.”
