[People News] The AVAAZ global petition seeking justice for Yu Menglong had exceeded 570,000 signatures as of October 23. Netizens say the current goal for the worldwide petition and public outcry over Yu Menglong is to surge toward 1 million.
The global support action for Yu Menglong organized by the overseas Chinese Democratic Party—“Let the world hear our voice”—has so far received submissions from 40 netizens across 14 countries.
What embarrasses the CCP is that on October 21 the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council opened a Facebook page titled “Spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.” After the account went online, a large number of Taiwanese netizens flooded the page with comments mentioning the Yu Menglong incident, the June 4 Tiananmen incident, organ harvesting, and more.
So far, the Taiwan Affairs Office’s Facebook account continues to be overwhelmed by massive user comments; each post has thousands to tens of thousands of comments, almost all demanding the truth about Yu Menglong’s death.
“Has an investigation been opened into Yu Menglong? Please speak up and give us an answer! You can’t just delete bad comments! Taiwan has freedom of speech. You can ask anything — please give us an accounting, Taiwan Affairs Office.”
“Can you investigate the truth behind the celebrity Yu Menglong’s death?”
“If you want to communicate with us properly, please first open a case into Yu Menglong’s wrongful death!! Deleting commenters shows you do not want to communicate.”
“When will a case be opened into Yu Menglong? What are you afraid of? Can’t a country properly handle the case of one artist?”
Some netizens even asked: “May the basement of the Qihai Art Museum be opened to visitors? We want to see some more ‘real’ artworks.”
It is said that the Taiwan Affairs Office Facebook admin initially deleted comments, but with the flood of messages the deletion rate clearly couldn’t keep up; currently the admin appears to have given up trying to delete posts.
Although calls for justice for Yu Menglong have resonated overseas and domestically, CCP officials remain mute and have given no response to the public’s outcry. Instead, the public has spontaneously begun a “ban entertainment” movement.
Fans have compiled lists of films and TV works involving artists connected to the Yu Menglong case and are calling for boycotts.
Netizens bluntly state, “We don’t want to watch movies, we want to see the surveillance footage; we want the truth.”
One netizen said: “Don’t watch anything from the entertainment industry, resolutely boycott! Don’t spend money! Don’t pay for memberships! Don’t buy tickets! If schools book venues, take leave or strike. Persist long-term! The domestic entertainment industry is all interlinked, with tangled ties; when an avalanche happens, not a single snowflake is innocent. Until the truth is revealed, sell off all stocks tied to Tianyu-related institutions until they delist.”
Currently, Mango Excellent Media’s stock price continues to fall; on October 22 the intraday drop reached 5%.
More than a month after the Yu Menglong incident, many friends say they have come to re-understand the CCP through the case, realizing that the false prosperity under CCP rule conceals evils beyond imagination. The following netizen comments may offer some insight.
One netizen said: “Lately when I see officials I think of organs. When I see art I think of death. Seeing red threads makes me uncomfortable; watching videos makes me cry; sleeping brings nightmares — these devils are too terrifying.”
Another netizen wrote: “Those of us awakened by Yu are going through a cognitive upheaval and spiritual forging. If we dwell on pain from what happened to Yu and suffer day and night, we will live in the hell the devils want us to fall into. So let us together constantly recall Yu’s beauty, remember his perseverance and the powerful energy of his soul. Let us grow toward the sun together, resist that regime and the privileged circles, the perpetrators, and the indifferent onlookers!”
This netizen incisively analyzed the relationship between the CCP’s judiciary and power. He wrote: “If a nation’s judiciary can become a shield for power and capital, then the judiciary is used to suppress the people; the power structure must be reformed. If power stands above the judiciary, what are the people? It cannot be that whatever power says is right. They loudly proclaim ‘serve the people’ but do nothing. How many who hold power are unworthy? Tell me — when Communist Party members gain power, is it for the people, for the state, for the Party, or for personal gain? It’s the 21st century and China still functions as a power dynasty. Today’s China is a national system for the people and a party system for power. A government-recognized monk can have countless lovers and illegitimate children; how much worse is it within the power system itself — it’s truly a mess. Has China ever tallied how many ‘heavenly dragons’ (privileged elites) have existed since reform and opening? A state enterprise can have nine deaths in ten years and the judiciary can ignore it — power can be used to suppress. It’s speechless. I really hope Heaven intervenes, to deal with China’s evildoers, so that the suffering and good people of China can truly be freed.”
