The Second-Generation Red Nobility Stages a Coup, Xi is Panicked. (People News Illustration)
[People News] Trump’s tariff war has struck at the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s vital interests, rapidly isolating it. In response, the CCP is threatening global retaliation. Meanwhile, the Russia-Ukraine negotiations have reached a critical stage, and Xi Jinping's secret agreement with Putin has been exposed. Beijing now appears to be preparing to throw Xi under the bus. Additionally, former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s wife, Ho Ching, recently posted a scathing criticism of Xi, suggesting that anti-Xi forces within the CCP are gaining the upper hand, signalling the potential for even greater political upheaval.
Trump's Tariff War Hits CCP’s Weak Spot; CCP Threatens Retaliation Against the World
According to Sound of Hope, Xia Baolong, director of the CCP’s Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, publicly stated last week that the U.S. "doesn’t want our 'tariffs,' it wants our 'life'," indirectly admitting that Trump’s tariff war struck a vital blow to the CCP.
This Monday, the CCP again issued a global warning: any country siding with the U.S. in the tariff war will face countermeasures from China. Users on X (formerly Twitter) commented that the CCP threatening the entire world feels ominous — something big may be brewing.
Such harsh rhetoric from Beijing reflects its anxiety. Currently, Trump has granted a 90-day buffer period, which is a critical moment for countries to take sides. Meanwhile, the U.S. is ramping up pressure on another front — last week, the White House officially concluded that COVID-19 originated from a Wuhan lab, intensifying the pressure on the CCP.
Senior political and economic commentator Wu Jialong said on the show News Decoding that the next step after tracing the virus origin would be large-scale compensation claims — a move designed to support the tariff battle.
Wu noted that by tracing the virus origin and demanding accountability, the U.S. is sending a signal to allies: “The CCP caused the pandemic disaster — do you still want to stand with them on tariffs?” By showcasing its leadership and resolve to confront the CCP, the U.S. is winning over hesitant allies who now view America as reliable and worthy of support.
He added that while Trump publicly calls for dialogue with Xi, he simultaneously raises the virus issue, putting Xi in a position where he dares not show up. Trump can then say, “I’m not at fault; the Chinese side refused to negotiate,” further isolating the CCP.
Trump is pulling out all the stops, determined to defeat the CCP with tariffs. Independent scholar Wu Zuolai posted on X that if we regard the current U.S. situation as a wartime posture, everything becomes easier to understand — Trump is conducting a defensive war.
Wu wrote that those who come from China know that the CCP has never stopped viewing the U.S. as an enemy. Cooperation with the U.S. was always a means to strengthen itself, and it’s ready to break ties at any time — all in pursuit of controlling Taiwan, dominating the Indo-Pacific, and splitting the Pacific with the U.S.
Trump began decoupling from China in his first term by moving supply chains. Then came the pandemic, followed by Biden’s sudden rise, which led to Trump’s departure. Now Trump’s tariff war is essentially the prelude to a U.S.-China confrontation — if successful, it could prevent a hot war and spell the CCP’s end.
Wu argued that after 30–40 years of benefiting from the U.S., China has grown strong. Meanwhile, the U.S. economy has reached a critical juncture. If war breaks out or China grows further, the U.S. could end up like the Kuomintang — brought down by internal and external forces. Hence, Trump is fighting a war to defend America.
Secret China-Russia Pact Exposed — Beijing May Be Preparing to Dump Xi Jinping
Even before returning to the White House, Trump had planned to use a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire to dismantle the China-Russia alliance, weakening the CCP and shifting U.S. strategic focus from Europe to the Asia-Pacific. However, peace talks stalled after clashes between Zelensky and the White House.
Australian-based legal scholar Yuan Hongbing revealed to The Epoch Times on April 21 that Trump’s efforts have been hindered by a secret pact between Putin and Xi Jinping.
According to Yuan, a family member of a purged senior CCP official, leaked that Xi and Putin began negotiating this pact in 2020 and signed it in 2022. Under the agreement, the first batch of North Korean soldiers sent to Russia — over 10,000 troops — included nearly 3,000 Chinese soldiers. These were mainly ethnic Koreans from China or Chinese personnel trained in North Korean-style warfare. Yuan said, “The Chinese military has actually already been involved in the Russia-Ukraine war. The nearly 3,000 sent were mostly combat-experienced noncommissioned officers. The goal was to gain modern warfare experience in preparation for a future Taiwan invasion.”
The CCP also agreed to supply North Korea with equipment for 100,000 special forces and promised to replace any losses sustained on the battlefield.
If the secret agreement truly exists, there are likely more undisclosed details. Yuan only noted that China also provided Russia with economic and political-diplomatic support under this agreement.
As the U.S.-China tariff war escalates, signs of progress in the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire are emerging. This week is particularly critical.
On April 21, Trump said the U.S. had “very good talks” with Russia and Ukraine and would “announce full details within the next three days.”
On April 23, a Ukrainian delegation will meet with representatives from the U.S., UK, and France in London.
Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal revealed parts of the proposed agreement. According to Bloomberg, the U.S. suggested freezing the current front lines, allowing Russia to keep control of eastern and southern Ukraine, and prohibiting Ukraine from joining NATO. The deal must also include security guarantees for Ukraine. The Wall Street Journal added that the deal includes recognising Crimea as Russian territory, not requiring Russian withdrawal from occupied eastern areas, and establishing a neutral zone around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, possibly under U.S. control. Ukraine would not join NATO.
So far, neither Russia nor Ukraine has objected to the draft agreement, making a deal likely. A ceasefire would be a huge blow to the CCP. Beijing seems to be preparing to scapegoat someone, and that someone is likely Xi Jinping.
Ho Ching’s Post Criticising Xi Suggests Greater Turmoil Ahead
On April 21, Ho Ching, wife of former Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong, shared a commentary on Facebook that harshly criticised Xi Jinping, saying that for the past 12 years, Xi has acted “like a mafia boss,” bullying and exploiting neighbouring countries. Now, during the tariff war, China expects these same countries to treat Xi as a friend and partner — “how laughable and absurd.”
Ho Ching was the long-time CEO of Temasek Holdings, Singapore’s most secretive investment firm, which has massive investments in China.
Independent commentator Cai Shenkun questioned whether Ho Ching is afraid of retaliation, or perhaps she has insider knowledge that Xi will be held responsible for China’s diplomatic failures?
Commentator Tang Jingyuan suggested that the only reasonable explanation is that Singaporean leaders now understand Xi has lost the ability to retaliate — they aren’t worried about repercussions.
Another X account noted that Ho Ching’s post could be a signal — Singapore has long been a hub for the CCP’s internal anti-Xi faction. With the tariff war putting the CCP under immense pressure and its internal unity crumbling, the anti-Xi faction may be preparing to strike from abroad. Major changes may be coming soon.
The U.S.-China tariff war and Russia-Ukraine negotiations are intersecting, accelerating the reshaping of the global order. At the same time, anti-Xi forces within the CCP appear to be gaining the upper hand, and greater political upheaval may be imminent.
