[People News] According to various media reports on November 16, following the shock nationwide caused by a car accident in Zhuhai that killed 35 people, another fatal random attack occurred that evening at the Wuxi Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing, Jiangsu. A former student surnamed Xu, dissatisfied with his inability to obtain a graduation certificate and the pay for his internship, reportedly returned to the campus with a knife and attacked indiscriminately.

According to Radio Free Asia, local police confirmed that the incident resulted in 8 deaths and 17 injuries. The suspect, Xu, was arrested on the spot.

The incident caused widespread panic on campus. Many students locked themselves in their dormitories, using furniture to barricade their doors to prevent the attacker from breaking in. Reports from HK01 describe scenes of injured victims lying on the ground, with footage of the attack circulating online.

Preliminary police investigations reveal that the 21-year-old male suspect, Xu, was supposed to graduate this year from the Wuxi Institute of Arts and Technology. However, he failed to pass his exams and could not obtain a graduation certificate. Frustrated with this and his internship compensation, he returned to the school at around 6:30 PM on the evening of November 16 to carry out the attack.

Police reported that Xu confessed to his crimes. Authorities are now focused on post-incident management, treatment of the injured, and further investigation.

Following the attack, news of the incident spread rapidly across Chinese social media, garnering widespread attention. According to a report by CNA, videos circulating online showed at least one person lying motionless after being stabbed. Numerous ambulances and police cars arrived at the scene.

Some students, believed to be from the school, warned others online to stay indoors, noting that their roommates had been attacked. “The guy (referring to Xu) stabs anyone he sees. Don’t go outside,” one post read.

After the incident, the injured were reportedly sent to the new campus of Yixing People’s Hospital for emergency treatment, though their current condition remains unclear.

According to Social Media Post on X by "Mr. Li Is Not Your Teacher" On the evening of November 16, students at the Wuxi Institute of Arts and Technology reportedly barricaded their dormitory doors with cabinets to protect themselves during the random knife attack. The user "Mr. Li Is Not Your Teacher" shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the incident involved multiple victims lying motionless on the ground.

The attacker allegedly acted out of frustration over unpaid wages from his factory job, where he worked 16-hour shifts daily, and the school withholding his graduation certificate, preventing him from graduating. In a chilling statement attributed to the attacker, he reportedly said: "I hope my death will push for labor law reform." "Don’t think I’m an honest person; some debts must be settled." Witness accounts added further distressing details: "The attacker was hiding in bushes to stab people." "Seven victims… one student who was stabbed six times has already been covered with a white cloth."

Public Reactions on Social Media

"Xi Jinping is the root cause of this series of societal issues."

"In an increasingly extreme-left China with limitless government power and widespread suppression, people are turning on each other in a hellish cycle. This is catastrophic, almost resembling acts of terrorism."

"This is just a microcosm of Xi Jinping’s so-called ‘peaceful era.’ If people don’t recognize the atrocities committed by the Communist Party, such tragedies will continue, and some will still believe China is the safest, best place."

"This exposes how corrupt and neglectful the education system is. No emergency medical response, and security staff lack basic first-aid knowledge. Victim survival rates drop dramatically in such situations." "With frequent incidents like this, hospitals’ emergency systems could collapse under the pressure."

"The incompetent authorities won’t act in time for golden rescue opportunities. By the time medical staff arrive, victims have already bled out."

"2024 has been a year of extreme chaos. Let’s strive to survive and look forward to 2025, the year of great change."

"Whenever something happens, the first thing the Communist Party does is arrest netizens and block information."

"This is a heartbreaking tragedy."

"When truth is silenced and justice obscured, who are the real victims?"

In recent years, China has experienced a surge in random killings. The most recent incident occurred in September this year when a Japanese elementary school student was stabbed to death in Shenzhen. On July 4, a 64-year-old man in a residential area in Shenyang attacked pedestrians with a knife, resulting in three deaths and one injury. Jilin City police later reported that the suspect had a history of mental illness.

On the afternoon of June 24, in Suzhou, a Chinese man suddenly attacked individuals near a Japanese school bus after it arrived at a station, injuring a Japanese mother and her child. A Chinese school bus staff member, Hu Youping, tragically lost his life while protecting the students.

During the morning rush hour on June 19, a 54-year-old man carried out an indiscriminate knife attack on passengers at the Hechuan Road subway station on Shanghai Metro Line 9, injuring three people, one of whom sustained severe abdominal injuries.

On June 10, four American teachers were stabbed in a park in Jilin City, northeastern China.

On May 20, a 45-year-old woman entered Mingde Elementary School in Wenfang Town, Guixi City, Jiangxi Province, wielding a knife, killing two and injuring ten. That same month, another random stabbing incident occurred at a hospital in Zhenxiong County, Yunnan Province, leaving two dead and 21 injured.

Although the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has repeatedly emphasized that these are isolated incidents, the frequent stabbings and killings across the country this year suggest a clear and alarming trend.
