Xi "Personally" Condoles Spanish Flood Victims; Meanwhile, People Cry Out in Flooded Hainan: "Where Are You, Chairman Xi"

Xi Jinping's greatest concern is protecting his family. (People News)

[People News] On November 2, 2024, the CCP's official media released a "heartwarming" piece of news, bound to touch the hearts of Southern Europeans: in a brief message under 200 words, the "Party Speak" generally states that a serious flood struck Spain, and General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a condolence message to King Felipe VI. Xi expressed that he was "deeply shocked" by the flood, extended his "profound condolences" to the victims, and his "sincere sympathy" to their families and the injured, and expressed confidence that Spain’s affected areas would "overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes."

At first glance, seeing words like "flood," "Xi Jinping," "sincere," and "home" together brought a flicker of joy to people's hearts: Xi had finally spoken out during a disaster. After all, just two days earlier, Typhoon and floods had ravaged Hainan, China, submerging at least 123 villages, flooding cities, causing uncountable deaths and property losses—figures that are not, and likely will not be, publicly reported. In the disaster zone, people cried out to the mountains and sea: "Chairman Xi, where are you? Where are you, Chairman Xi?"

Now, with Xi Jinping suddenly showing up in flood-related condolences, people couldn’t help but feel a brief surge of excitement.

However, when people took a closer look at the words "condolences," "serious," "deep," "shocked," "confidence," and "home rebuilding" in the news, it turned out that Chairman Xi was sending warmth far across the globe to a Southern European country, leaving "us chicken-citizens" to our own imaginings.

Further reports on Hainan revealed that the flood was so severe that authorities had to release water from reservoirs without warning, leading to flooding in Qionghai City from upstream reservoirs like Niuluoling and Hongling on the Wanquan River. Farmland, trees, houses, people, livestock, cars, furniture, clothing, branches, and more were submerged, with everything tumbling in the water, turning Qionghai into an actual sea. Landslides worsened the disaster, cutting off water, electricity, and food in several areas, with some villages and towns losing all communication. Sparse information on the internet and media hints that at least 10 people have died in some towns and streets.

For this, we see no "shock" from Xi Jinping, nor any "serious" or "deep" concern.

In recent years, every year brings floods, typhoons, droughts, and extreme heat in the PRC, but the people never see "serious" or "deep" responses from Xi’s books or his six comrades in Zhongnanhai. People say they are too busy throwing money abroad, arresting spies domestically to secure the regime, and feasting with foreign dignitaries to care about the lives of "chicken citizens." However, what people can’t understand is why, for a distant Southern European country facing a minor flood, Xi and his comrades immediately had time to express "serious" and "deep" condolences.

Could it be that they don’t know about domestic disasters because no one reported it to them? Unlikely. The Hainan Meteorological Bureau publicly announced its statistics: from 8 a.m. on October 29 to 8 a.m. on October 30 alone, 11 cities and counties on Hainan Island saw rainfall exceeding 200 mm across 65 towns, with a peak of 605 mm in Huishan Town, Qionghai City. Hainan’s official statistics reveal that Typhoon Muifa in September alone caused nearly 80 billion RMB in direct economic losses across four cities and counties: Haikou, Wenchang, Chengmai, and Lingao. So what will be the economic losses from this recent heavy rainfall disaster?

Could Xi and his comrades be living in CCTV’s "the scenery is beautiful here" broadcast loop, completely ignoring local news? Who would believe that?

There’s actually nothing puzzling about it. What is Spain? Just two months ago, on the afternoon of September 9, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez visited Beijing, where he and Premier Li Qiang "witnessed the signing" of several bilateral cooperation documents in the fields of economy, culture, education, and technology. Sánchez was warmly received by Xi Jinping, who assured him that "both sides would maintain close interactions at all levels and advance new areas of cooperation in high quality," and that they would "continuously enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership" and "expand third-party market cooperation aimed at the global south."

As for most other European countries, they completely ignore our "glorious, correct, and great Party," with no interactions at all. Only Spain has shed a sliver of light on our Party's dream of world dominance in Southern Europe, so of course, we seize every opportunity to express "serious" and "deep" feelings. As for Hainan, Qionghai, and the like, can they bring a sliver of light to our ambitions in Southern Europe? To borrow the words of Lin, the official from the Ministry of Transport, at a Shenzhen restaurant, "What are chicken-citizens worth? If they dare to cry out to the mountains again, cut their internet lines so they can taste the might of our invincible Party!"

However, on rereading Xi’s condolence message to Spain, words like "deep condolences," "sincere sympathy," "heavy casualties," and "families of the deceased" sound less like a condolence message and more like a eulogy, almost a death knell. Unfortunately, without consulting the Chinese people, the Party media have again sent such "ill-fated messages" on behalf of China and the Chinese people, deeply embarrassing ordinary citizens like us.
