[People News] As long as Trump remains president, the disputes between 'Trump supporters' and 'Trump haters' among the Chinese community will never end. However, regardless of their arguments, they will not impact the progress of the MAGA movement that Trump is championing or the shifts in the global order. As for who is right and who is wrong between 'Trump supporters' and 'Trump haters', it will not take a decade; as Trump's achievements are recorded in history, everything will eventually settle, and a conclusion will emerge. Therefore, I do not focus on the debates between the two sides, but rather find 'elegance' in observing the performances of the participants, witnessing the character of those with integrity and virtue, and discerning the hidden and distorted aspects of human nature.
Among the staunch Trump supporters, one user account named 'Sea Wide Sky' particularly catches my attention.
The term 'Trump supporters' is a label imposed by 'Trump haters' who oppose him at every turn. The 'Trump supporters' scoff at this label, so I should put quotes around the term 'Trump supporters'. However, 'Sea Wide Sky' is different; I do not need to hesitate to quote him, as he proudly identifies as a Trump supporter and is indeed a staunch one. Recently, he launched a media channel, wearing a cap emblazoned with Trump's name while making videos, and whimsically proposed two 'universals': 'Anyone who publicly criticises Trump is not a good person, and anyone who has been publicly scolded by Trump is not wronged.'
This is 'Sea Wide Sky's' personal opinion, and I need not analyse it further; its opposite is self-evident, suggesting that compared to 'Trump haters', the character of most 'Trump supporters' is more reliable. I do not necessarily agree with this. However, to understand his arbitrary reasoning, one must consider his perspective; he is entitled to express this view—
Firstly, 'Hai Kuo Tian Kong' has only been in the United States for five years, yet he is a passionate American patriot. His sole reason for supporting Trump is his belief that the MAGA agenda represents the ideal country he is willing to risk everything to immigrate to, and it is also the place where he hopes his children can live happily. He has sworn loyalty to the United States and is fully committed to establishing his roots here, unlike some Chinese Americans who, regardless of their political stance, are physically in the U.S. but mentally aligned with China, often judging Trump based on whether he is anti-communist or anti-China.
Secondly, 'Hai Kuo Tian Kong' is a businessman involved in Sino-U.S. trade. Although Trump's tariff policies have caused some losses to his business, he does not assess right and wrong based on his own interests. He understands that Trump is undertaking major reforms to address the deep-seated issues in America, which inevitably causes some pain; externally, he is trying to rectify the chaotic and unfair world trade, which may also lead to temporary imbalances. Even if Trump's bold reforms encounter setbacks, his unwavering commitment to making America great again remains commendable. Thus, despite any short-term losses he may face, he is resolutely willing to be a staunch Trump supporter for the sake of America and future generations.
Thirdly, Trump is working to reform the elite universities in America that have been undermined by the left, attempting to reshape campus culture and academic order. He has targeted heavily affected institutions like Harvard, warning them that if they do not implement necessary reforms, the government will freeze federal funding. 'Hai Kuo Tian Kong's daughter graduated from Harvard, and he does not oppose Trump's actions for potentially tarnishing the image of Harvard graduates; rather, he agrees with and criticizes Harvard and similar institutions for their decline under leftist influence, advising his daughter to steer clear of the alienated and distorted culture at Harvard.
Fourth, the phrase 'the sky is vast, and the sea is wide' is not just a flashy declaration. During the pandemic, the government provided subsidies, and his family was eligible to receive over ten thousand dollars. However, he felt he did not need the money, so he chose not to claim it. In the ongoing debate between 'Trump supporters' and 'Trump critics', there is a popular saying: 'Anything that benefits America is seen as a Chinese 'Trump supporter'; anything that seeks to exploit America is viewed as a Chinese 'Trump critic'. 'The sky is vast, and the sea is wide' exemplifies this perspective through his own words and actions.
The phrase 'the vast sky and ocean' has articulated a perspective that aligns with a sound worldview: 'The fundamental nature of immigration is naturalisation, not mere accommodation. Naturalisation involves actively embracing the values and social order of the host country, fully integrating into society, and striving to improve the destination while ensuring a better future for oneself and the next generation than what was left behind in the home country. Immigrants who fail to recognize these values and do not actively integrate are simply relocating their physical presence. This movement resembles a natural phenomenon: mosquitoes and flies chasing light. While it may appear that these insects are drawn to brightness, they actually bring disease and infection wherever they go. It is perfectly reasonable to immigrate to the United States for personal gain, much like mosquitoes pursuing light. However, if you neither create nor protect that light, and instead bring along outdated beliefs and bad habits from your previous home like a virus, the outcome will ultimately be detrimental to both others and yourself. In summary, the United States does not owe anything to any immigrant; if you come, you must integrate, take root, and contribute your efforts to make America great again. It is not merely about taking advantage or seeking benefits, and certainly not about resorting to insults when things do not go your way or attempting to undermine America.'
‘The Vast Sky and the Sea’ not only reflects my self-respect and self-discipline as an ordinary (good) citizen, but I have also organised a like-minded Chinese MAGA club. The club clearly states: We are a group of Chinese individuals who have come to the United States for various reasons, united by a common dream of establishing roots and branching out on American soil, embracing freedom, coming together to make America great again, supporting one another, backing Trump, and working tirelessly with unwavering commitment. The club has a website and currently boasts over seven hundred members, who are in the process of applying to join Turning Point USA. Notably, the members enjoy harmonious relationships and frequently gather, generously hosting fellow like-minded individuals from different regions whom they have never met before, embodying their principle of mutual trust and support.
‘The Vast Sky and the Sea’ also diligently adheres to the self-identification stated on X: a gentle right-winger who speaks the truth and acts sincerely. His posts on X, along with his speech and demeanour in videos, are devoid of emotional outbursts or angry insults. While his heartfelt comments may sometimes contain errors, they are rooted in sincerity, openness, and transparency, as clear as day. This mirrors his steadfast support for Trump, who, while not infallible, has made earnest efforts for the greatness of America again, which is evident over time.
I have had no direct interaction with 'Hai Kuo Tian Kong', and this fact serves as my primary reason for recommending him. I have serious doubts about whether one can find someone of such character as 'Hai Kuo Tian Kong' among the vast number of 'Chuan Hei' (anti-Trump Chinese). Furthermore, it is questionable whether they could organise a club based on mutual trust and support. Another reason is that 'Hai Kuo Tian Kong' does not belong to the anti-communist 'Chuan Fen' (Trump supporters), which means I will not get caught up in the disputes created by certain anti-communist 'Chuan Hei', listening to their deliberately foolish arguments that attempt to disguise their negative feelings towards Trump with phrases like Trump being 'good friends' with dictators.
As for those who are 'Chuan Hei', they can no longer be evaluated by the standards of ordinary people; they must be analysed through the lenses of medical psychology and pathology. This has led to the emergence of a new condition known as 'Trump Mental Disorder Syndrome'. Many on the American left who oppose Trump are deeply afflicted by this syndrome and find it hard to escape its grasp. A significant number of 'Chuan Hei' among the Chinese are even in a critical state of this illness.
As for whether they fit the assertion made by 'Hai Kuo Tian Kong' that 'anyone who publicly criticises Trump is not a good person', we can leave that for future discussions.
