[People News] On April 18, the White House launched a dedicated page on its official website, declaring that the "laboratory leak" is the true origin of the COVID-19 pandemic (also referred to as the CCP virus). The administration criticised federal agencies and certain experts for misleading the public during the outbreak.
The page highlighted that U.S. public health officials provided inconsistent information, made rushed decisions, and lacked transparency. More alarmingly, the federal government had previously suppressed the "laboratory leak theory," which impacted the health choices available to the American public.
The White House specifically called out Dr. Anthony Fauci, criticising him for advocating the "natural transmission theory" and for leading the authorship of a paper that dismissed the "laboratory leak" theory.
Nevertheless, the White House asserted that the virus exhibits biological characteristics not found in nature, suggesting it is more akin to a one-time event rather than a result of multiple cross-species transmissions. Furthermore, prior to the public acknowledgement of the pandemic, individuals at the Wuhan Institute of Virology had shown symptoms similar to those of COVID-19, raising further questions.
The webpage also pointed out that the Wuhan laboratory has been engaged in "gain-of-function" research for an extended period, which involves altering viral genes to enhance their transmissibility. Such experiments are conducted with inadequate safety measures and carry extremely high risks.
As of now, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has begun the process of defunding the EcoHealth Alliance, led by Dr. Peter Daszak, who previously utilised taxpayer money to conduct experiments in Wuhan.
The investigation has revealed that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States is experiencing significant regulatory disarray, with allegations of perjury, document destruction, and leaks. Dr. David Morens, an advisor to Dr. Anthony Fauci, has been repeatedly cited for violations.
The White House has criticised the Biden administration for hindering congressional inquiries into the origins of the pandemic. Additionally, some local governments, including New York State, have been accused of non-cooperation and redacting documents, which has impacted the review of former Governor Andrew Cuomo's pandemic response.
The White House stressed that there is no scientific evidence supporting the 'natural origin theory.' If such evidence existed, it should have been made public long ago. Now, as documents are declassified and investigations progress, the origins of the virus are becoming increasingly clear.
This statement could fundamentally alter the public's understanding of the pandemic's origins.
