The CCP: An Unchanging Threat—Including TikTok s Free Intelligence Transmission to Enemy Nations

[People News] China is not the same as the CCP—a consensus that has been widely acknowledged. However, if the CCP dons a colorful disguise, some people may mistake it as “normal.” But is it truly normal? Did the CCP cease to be a grave threat during the Jimmy Carter era?

Every year on October 1, the CCP celebrates what it calls the “birthday of the motherland,” an idea deeply ingrained in the minds of people in mainland China. However, a moment of reflection reveals some contradictions: China has a history of 5,000 years; the Republic of China, established by Sun Yat-sen, was founded on January 1, 1912; and the CCP proclaimed its rule over the mainland on October 1, 1949, following the retreat of Chiang Kai-shek's government (which Chiang never recognized as legitimate). So, how old is China really? Who is the “motherland” that the CCP often refers to? Is the CCP’s “mother” the Soviet Communist Party or Karl Marx? Is its “homeland” Russia or Germany? With these questions in mind, it becomes evident that the CCP is far from being the “normal” entity some might hope for.

1. "Telling the China Story": Who Are the CCP's Propaganda Partners Today?

In recent years, the CCP has emphasized the importance of “telling the China story well.” The origins of this propaganda effort date back over 80 years. In 1937, American journalist Edgar Snow published Red Star Over China, which whitewashed the CCP’s atrocities, such as massacring the AB League, confiscating landowners’ properties, and cultivating opium. The book presented an image of the CCP as progressive, open, and honest. Mao Zedong once remarked, “Snow was the first person to pave the way for establishing friendly relations and a united front.”

At the same time, other figures such as Agnes Smedley and Anna Louise Strong joined Snow in China, collectively known as the "Three S’s." These individuals were shameless in their praise of the CCP, to the extent that the CCP even issued commemorative stamps in their honor.

In today’s information age, however, it is no longer possible for a few foreign journalists to dominate global narratives about the CCP. Instead, the CCP now relies on a comprehensive, multi-faceted media strategy involving online platforms, social media, and mainstream outlets. By generating trending topics and steering public discourse, it seeks to shape global perceptions. The CCP, which gained power through “guns and pens,” understands this strategy deeply, using Chinese taxpayers’ money to fund its united front work, bribery, subversion, and information warfare.

The CCP is actively cultivating a network of social media accounts with millions to tens of millions of followers on platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Meta, and X. These accounts act as puppets, influencing overseas audiences in subtle and pervasive ways—slowly and insidiously, akin to “boiling a frog in warm water.”

2. TikTok: A Massive Source of Free Intelligence for Enemy Nations

TikTok stands out in particular. The CCP has long considered the United States its primary adversary. According to statistics, approximately 39% of Americans aged 19-39 use TikTok. This means that vast amounts of personal, familial, and commercial information from young and middle-aged Americans are being transmitted to an adversarial nation daily. Espionage and other forms of unrestricted warfare require significant funding and specialized personnel. Yet TikTok users voluntarily use their smartphones to provide massive amounts of free intelligence to the CCP, continuously and in real time.

Through big data analysis and targeted algorithms, the CCP can not only manipulate how Americans perceive it today but also influence America’s future. Among the 19-39 age demographic, many individuals will enter federal and state governments, the military, intelligence agencies, tech companies, universities, banks, and diplomatic services in the coming years. Armed with extensive personal information, the CCP can easily identify individuals’ vulnerabilities and pressure, bribe, or coerce them into compliance. For the CCP, this method is both cost-effective and efficient.

This strategy of internal subversion and control is a hallmark of the CCP’s unrestricted warfare tactics. It employed these tactics against Chiang Kai-shek’s Nationalist government, forcing its retreat to Taiwan. It has used them to control the people of mainland China, turning them into pawns and tools. And it continues to use them against American officials, industries, and professions, ensnaring countless individuals and compromising American interests.

Recently, California has faced wildfires and high winds over three days, destroying homes and disrupting the lives of hundreds of thousands. Yet amidst this devastation, the fires have also disrupted the CCP’s influence in the state—a small silver lining in an otherwise tragic situation.

3. The United Front on Social Media: Other Platforms

The trumpet call to restore good and evil in America has already sounded. How challenging is this battle? Many Americans, especially the younger generation who have never witnessed the CCP's cruelty and lack of boundaries, may not yet be fully awake from the “warm water” they are being boiled in.

How effective is the CCP’s united front work on social media platforms? Let’s examine two prominent examples:

(1) YouTube

The CCP faced international condemnation for its cover-up of the pandemic and its “zero-COVID” policies. In March 2021, an American YouTube influencer flew to Shanghai to stand as a spokesperson for the CCP. In a YouTube video, he declared, “I’m very happy now because I feel free,” and “COVID-19 (CCP virus) prevention here (in China) is the most organized in the world.”

The CCP has dedicated institutions researching programs on YouTube. Influencers are brought to places like Lhasa in Tibet to show how “happy” the children there are. As a result, these influencers pledge to “tell the China story well” and present a “credible, lovable, and respectable China.” But just as the wicked stepmother must disguise herself for Snow White to take a bite of the poisoned apple, the CCP’s purpose in using any “potion” to entice people is never for mutual respect or equality but rather to eliminate enemies and dominate the world.

(2) Competitions with Prizes

The CCP also organizes contests with significant cash rewards for producing content that “tells the China story well.” These contests aim to recruit influential foreign social media figures to produce videos that whitewash and support the CCP.

Do you have hobbies, weaknesses, or desires? If so, the CCP can exploit them—that is their specialty. For the CCP, “getting it done” means controlling and coercing individuals to serve its agenda.

(3) International Students in China

The CCP also targets international students studying in China to spread its propaganda abroad. For example, Tsinghua University once required international students to produce short videos titled “100 Reasons to Fall in Love with Beijing” and share them on American social media platforms. Fudan University, Nanjing University, and Sun Yat-sen University have become the first “Innovation Bases for Foreign Discourse” under the CCP’s Propaganda Department. Fujian Overseas Chinese University has even established the “Overseas New Voices” new media studio.

(4) Co-opting Mainstream Media: Subverting Freedom of Speech and Press

The CCP has long employed united front tactics to mass-produce modern versions of Edgar Snow, Agnes Smedley, and Anna Louise Strong. Leveraging America’s freedom of speech and press, the CCP uses gray areas to infiltrate mainstream media. By inserting CCP propaganda into news sections as paid “advertorials,” it confuses the audience about what is genuine news and what is enemy propaganda.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) records, China Daily’s ad spending in the U.S. increased from $500,000 in 2009 to over $5 million in 2019. Many media companies, facing financial difficulties, eagerly accepted this advertising revenue. The inclusion of “China stories” in regular news sections makes it nearly impossible for the average reader to discern between real news and fake news or foreign propaganda.

In commercial competition, rivals may suffer losses but also reconcile. In warfare between nations, there are victories, defeats, and negotiations. However, in the battle between the children of God and the communist devil, it’s a matter of life or death. The CCP understands this fully, which is why its ultimate goal is to destroy the U.S. and replace it. America leads the free world—it is divinely ordained. If America wins, the world wins; if America loses, the communist flood will engulf the globe.

4. "China Before Communism"

Yet extremes often provoke a reversal. As the CCP wages unrestricted warfare against the U.S., sparing no expense to divide, weaken, and replace it, the Shen Yun Performing Arts troupe, composed of Falun Gong practitioners, was established in New York in 2006. Through classical Chinese dance, it presents “China before communism.”

Touring in over 20 countries worldwide, Shen Yun has been warmly received by audiences everywhere. Some have been moved by the charm of divine culture. On January 31, 2024, after watching Shen Yun, renowned Japanese media personality Keiko Kawazoe commented, “Communism promotes atheism, advocates survival of the fittest, pursues money and material enjoyment, and denies divinity. Yet, the Chinese have historically revered heaven, earth, and deities, much like the Japanese. I resonate with this deeply. I believe humanity lives under divine protection.”

Others have seen hope in Shen Yun, believing it can change the world. On April 7, 2024, Zhang Junhong, a former Taiwanese legislator with extensive political experience, praised Shen Yun for offering humanity a new hope. “It not only has the power to save China but also to save the entire world,” he said. “I have received Shen Yun’s profound message, and I believe the true impact of the performance is just beginning.” He added, “Shen Yun showcases a new hope for humanity. Transforming the fate of humanity must start with valuing Shen Yun.”

Still, others have expressed steadfast support for Shen Yun. On February 1, 2024, U.S. Congressman Patrick Ryan said after attending Shen Yun, “I believe this performance should be staged in every country worldwide. This is precisely what we are working to help promote. I know many places face significant challenges in freely watching this performance. That’s why I firmly support Shen Yun and will continue to do so.” He concluded, “I think the core values of Falun Dafa, especially the message conveyed at the end of the performance—that of responding to darkness positively—is truly beautiful.”

Conclusion

Today, the global movement to oppose and dismantle communism has become a historical inevitability. However, this opposition must be firm and thorough, or humanity risks being devoured by the communist devil. There is no tie in the battle between good and evil; only victory or defeat. Ancient Roman poet Virgil wrote in The Eclogues, “The day justice is reborn is the day the golden age returns.”

Evil may take countless forms, but it remains evil at its core. The path of righteousness is arduous, but the future is undoubtedly bright. The Creator’s creation is not meant for evil to perform but carries noble and sacred significance. A new era is on the horizon. Often, the fate of individuals, nations, and the world hinges on a single thought of good or evil. While we observe and make our choices, heaven is also watching, choosing who is worthy of the future. △
