(Reuters) -The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Monday that it has opened a preliminary evaluation into about 35,950 Ford Flex vehicles in the United States over a potential rear-camera failure.

Ford did not immediately respond to a request for a comment.

The U.S. auto safety regulator said it received about 23 reports alleging the rear-view camera image could be blank, distorted, or inverted, on 2019 model year vehicles.
