Vice President Kamala Harris visited conservative areas in Pennsylvania, including Johnstown and Wilkes-Barre, aiming to reduce Trump's support in these regions. She emphasized removing unnecessary degree requirements for federal jobs, appealing to voters without college education. Harris highlighted her work in California against drug cartels and vowed to continue combating drug issues as president. She focused on diversifying paths to success beyond a four-year degree, challenging the private sector to do the same. 

Harris's campaign strategy involves attracting moderate and Republican voters, seeking endorsements from former GOP officials. She aims to win over swing voters in red counties to secure Pennsylvania's crucial 19 electoral votes. Her team has invested significantly in the state with frequent public appearances and substantial ad spending. The campaign acknowledges the importance of connecting with voters in communities across Pennsylvania. 

In Pennsylvania's red territories, Harris aims to narrow the margin of defeat, recognizing the significance of every vote. She spent time in Cambria County, a predominantly white, working-class area where Trump's support has been strong. Luzerne County, home to Wilkes-Barre, also saw a shift towards Trump in recent elections. The campaign has established offices in rural counties won by Trump in 2020 to minimize losses in those areas. 

Harris previously campaigned in conservative-leaning Beaver County with her running mate, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, who brings experience from representing a rural district in Congress. While some Democrats had preferred Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as the running mate, he remains active in supporting Harris. Shapiro has spoken at the Democratic National Convention and campaigns on critical issues like abortion rights. 

Senator John Fetterman, another Democrat from Pennsylvania, has advocated for reaching out to voters outside major cities to secure support. Fetterman has urged the campaign to focus on engaging with Pennsylvanians across the state, not just in traditional Democratic strongholds. Despite internal party differences, Democrats are united in their efforts to win over voters and secure Pennsylvania as a crucial battleground state in the upcoming election.
